What is that average overclock of the 5960X with good high end air cooler or decent water cooling?

All the X99 chips seem to be reaching 4.5Ghz comfortably. With a few chips capable of 4.7Ghz > 4.8Ghz with quite a lot of volts and very good cooling.

It's still early days, so hopefully with improved bios / better memory compatibility things will improve a bit as well.

Weird problem, just updated, now I can't into bios :D

I can boot to Windows no problem, everything is running fine, but if I press DEL on boot up to enter bios I just get a black screen?

Oh the joys of early adoption !

Got this quite often on the boards Ive returned too, part of my general video issues ( along with extremely long times just to get to bios splash screen)

Its killing me having a 5820k I cant do anything with until the refund comes through lol

I hope you get it sorted asap bud, my UD4 has been "ok" these last few days tbh, but still going to get the SOC instead.

Cheers guys, yeah still no joy. I'm going to try and remove the battery, or is their easier way to reset cmos?

Will replace the memory in different slots etc, try and get to go into bios. Not gonna get a chance to try things out until tonight. Weird because it has been fine up until past couple days, I think this happened before the update as well, I just didn't think anything of it as I was running an OC and didn't want to change settings only turn the fans down. Since then I've updated and cannot get into bios at all. Black screen every time.

Still running fine within Windows, really weird, not had this before lol.

I had this issue after only a few days boom.

I removed the battery and left it out over night, popped it back in the following morning and booted fine.

Will try this mate. I can't even boot into Windows anymore.

I turn the PC on I see A9 or something in bottom right corner, monitor light goes blue, as if their is a signal but just a black screen..

Tried re seating memory, took battery out for about 2 minutes, put it back together and have the same issue.. Yay lol.

Will try leaving the battery out for a few hours next. Currently using our stone-age Laptop :D

Will have a proper go and sorting this tonight when I have more time..

If I put the memory in the dark slots i don't get a display light on the monitor. It seems to be totally fubar tbh. There isn't even a jumper to clear the cmos.. Removing battery for few hours didn't help. The last time I got into Windows I tried to flash to an older bios 'F8' but it failed. Now I don't get anything. no boot up at all.. No Windows.. Occasional a blue light to indicate there is a signal, but no bios post screen, no display..

I think this board is gonna have to go back..

Anybody know how to clear cmos without jumper thing?

Yeah mine came together, but when i first used them in my system, i had no stability, couldn't boot into windows, removing the battery didn't help, updated my bios which also did nothing.

That memory trick i tried was the only thing that cured it, just an idea, wouldn't hurt him to try :)

Started to get the urge to throw this pos mobo out of the window :p

When you say try 8GB in dual channel, where should I put the 2 x 4GB slots,

I have 8 slots, 2 light and 2 dark on either side? I'm trying to understand what you mean by mixing them, where should the first 2 x sticks go, on either side or the same side?

Cheers, bud.

It won't even post with 1 stick of memory in slot ddr4-3_1b. So I'm guessing we can rule out the memory. This seems to be some weird bios thing. It's like it's corrupted somehow, I get no post, nothing. Blue monitor light will occasionally pop up after 400 or 500 self re boots..

I think I will start an RMA lol.

So far have tried,

1 X stick in '1B'
2 x stick in '1B' + '1D'
4 x stick in '1B' '1A' + '1D' '1C'

No joy, tried randomly putting sticks in different slots after and nothing lol..

I found a jumper from an old IDE drive, and cleared the CMOS still nothing on power up, no post or anything. Blue light on monitor shows their is display but black screen..

I've taken the battery out and will give it one more try either later or tomorrow. If it's still not working I'll RMA. didn't get it here. I'll order something completely different because the other X99 Gigaybyte boards look to have similar layout, no cmos button etc..

@ boom

you should have dual bios switch on that board, flick it to backup bios and boot with that

seemslike corrupted main bios to me,you might also have qflash plus where you can flash bios again with no working cpu/memory

as for clearing cmos battery removal is always the best

to recover borked main bios, boot from backup bios then while still in bios screens flick switch to main bios and reflash main bios

I can't see a dual bios switch or anything on the mobo, I've checked the whole board? I must be blind lol !

You got any ideas where it could be? It's like playing a really annoying game of where's Wally !

Appreciate the help mate.

well not all boards have them so its hit and miss (manual will say whether it has dual bios switch or not)

but qflash plus should work, you'll need to read manual on how to do it,it flashes bios from usb stick with no working cpu or memory

Yeah there is def no switch to go to another bios..

I can't see anything about flashing with no CPU or Memory in the manual, I've put the F8 bios on a FAT32 stick and taken out all memory sticks. Put the USB stick into bios USB slot at rear of mobo but when I turn on it just does an endless loop...

Arrrrrrrrrrrgghh !

:D

This time I managed to see the gigabyte Splash screen but will not let me enter bios and next screen is blank display but still sending signal to the monitor.. very weird..

Tried DVD Dual Link of 1440P Monitor and HDMI on TV, it's def not the signal. Something weird is going on lol.

I might go back to first bios, you think that's worth a try?

yh I would, you can flash back n forth to any bios version you want

no windows screens either? or just no gigabyte/bios screens?

try to enter bios with spare kb if you have one

This time it showed the Gigabyte splash screen, with 'A2' in the bottom right of the screen, it went past that screen then had a '-' in top left and 'A9' in bottom right of the screen. Just blank display after that same thing..

Will try and find out what 'A2' means next, when I go to sleep, will take battery out and leave overnight like you mentioned..

Fun times

Thanks for your help wazza :)
