Hazro - Any Update?

HI ALL,
Just had a reply from OCUk and they told me as it was b grade i only have a 14-day warranty, so i informed them of my legal rights in which he got really ******. he spoke to a manger who said i can send monitor back to them and they will send to hazro, i said no i want my money back as i am entitled to!
He say u cant and then slammed the phone down!!!

So i called Lutfur from hazro, who was as always very polite etc, he told me he will personally look into the problem and contact me before 6pm.
I did inform him about OCUK and their attitude to which he replied thats not good.

I will be now contacting both citizens advice and my solicitor as OCUK are refusing to uphold their legal rights.

Has anyone else on here had such poor customer service form OCUK before?
I find this just appalling i run my own retail operation and would never treat a customer like this.

oh also lutfur said the cut off date was 22th, not sure if he means before xmas!?

Hi folks,

I've been trying to get to the bottom of this green snow issue with hazro monitors and have come across many forums where people are reporting it with Apples, HPs, Viewsonics etc. I emailed hazro [my contact at hazro didn't have an answer] and got a reply suggesting hazro are working with Ati on this. So i googled further and came across this:

http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=22468

The Apple forum is here:

http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=590007

[theres more of these posts - one even reporting it on the new HP LP2475w. Also, the email suggested 'working with ATi only' and the chap from warranty services didn't mention nVidia. So more googling and a lot of pms later, i discovered almost everybody having this problem has an Ati card. When i first had the issue, hazro mentioned the problem to occur on the 4850/4870s as well as the ati based MacBooks [i dont think its an issue on the macbook Pro]. i don't have that email no more but i remember quite a few models were mentioned.

Now - I am trying to figure out a solution. I've noticed a lot of supposedly clued up doods coming out with jargon and fancy/techie posts suggesting cabling issues etc. but I don't think its any of those and hazro confirmed this too. I say that because:

- I switched to an nVidia machine and no snow
- sometimes switching over to another DVI port resolves it

I know from the PMs that the 4850/4870 are a problem and I discovered this:

http://www.mvktech.net/component/op...view/id,52591/catid,6/limit,10/limitstart,10/

Apparently, checking 'alternate DVI operational mode' resolves it.

My question [since i no longer have an ATi card]:

- does the above fix it?
- if not, what does?

Im thinking of starting a new thread on this but since im not a regular poster, i dont want to take the lead on a new thread

Did you try the "Reduce DVI frequency on high resolution displays" option?

CCC -> Advanced Mode -> Digital Panel -> Attributes. This option enables the "Reduced Blanking" timing standard which is a requirement for running 1920x1200 on a single-link DVI cable as to not use it pushes the pixel clock too high and out of spec.

I did post about this earlier in the thread along with a long explanation (and link) that explains why, but this is an 83 page thread so it's probably buried by now.

Alternate DVI operational mode has been checked here even before i got my two 24" Hazro's. so i can confirm in my case this won't solve the green snow/lines problem.

I use 2x Ati HD3450 PCI-e cards.

No, not that one, the one immediately above it.

Edit: Does anyone know what 'alternate DVI mode' actually does? I've never been able to find out.

Edit2: Someone with the green snow issues, please try the reduced blanking settings. I'm dying to know if it actually works and I don't have the green snow issue to test with myself.

Also do you think it's time to start a Hazro FAQ thread with a link to the form for the recall and so on rather than making people read through 83 pages.

Mine works fine since I got it back from the firmware update, backlight is at a sensible value, I can have the brightness at 50, it's not getting excessively hot any more. I never suffered from the green snow problem though, and haven't even tried the HDMI port so wait for someone else to answer that one. Only issue is that the manual RGB adjustment for colour temperature doesn't work any more, but I don't think they're able to fix that. Wish they'd removed the option properly though!

Other than the standard risk of getting one that's DOA or has dead pixels, the same risks you get when buying any LCD monitor, I'd say go for it. I'm glad I got mine now despite the hassles (partly because I saved about £170 compared to the current price :P)

Could be, but as long as there is no direct contact possible i would advice to wait. Their email(form) is not answered much.

Jeness how do you mean direct contact,
when i spoke to hazro they told me the web-form on their site is NOT for support and this has been mis-infomation by OCUK the only way to contact them is by email on [email protected] or telephone. An email response can take awhile tho, as they are very very busy. Has anyone noticed on thier(hazro) website they as asking for other retailers to become resllers of hazro!!! uhmmm make me ask a few questions....

P.S im waiting for hazro to get back to me about my display.
Oh and have ppl noticed the truthseekers post has been locked!! i tried to contact yemen to no avail! Ah well i see another WLW, DSGi, and JSPs in OCUK. As anyone company can only survive on bad customer service for so long.

So more googling and a lot of pms later, i discovered almost everybody having this problem has an Ati card.

I have a BFG 9800GTX (a nVidia card), the hz24wi and regularly have green snow. I used to get it on v1 firmware and I get it on the v2.1 firmware.

If you look back at this thread when the "i" revision came out (back in August) you'll find lots of people on nVidia cards finding this problem.

phone number i posted on here a few pages back, just thinking about this go.mole.
I was having a chat to a friend of mine who is a copper and we were discussing sales of goods act etc. and if ppl are getting the snow and they cant sort it (OCUK or hazro) you are entitled to a full refund. anyway after talked to yewen on MSN yesterday he said if hazro cant sort mine this 2nd time he will make sure something gets done about it OCUk side!
fingers crossed
Ben

It's strange; only a few months ago people were unanimous in their praise for Hazro's range. It really shouldn't come to legal action. I'm sure they'll give you a refund if you want one; they seem like reasonable people.

OCUK have refused me on a refund 3-times. as i said i am giving hazro a chance to sort it out, but if they cant then its refund or a call to consumer direct.
And don't get me wrong the displays are fab, which is why i have persevered with them, but when i get "snow" all the time the display has a fault as far as im concerned.
i find the lack of any knowledge of their [ocuk] legal rights most worrying.

Can I just ask if you have tried the other DVI connection on your GFX card output? this is what completely fixed the problem for me (same snow) on my ATI crad. Now I'm on nVidia which seems to label which output is which and on DVI #1 I get no snow either :)

im sorry to hear the problems your going through ben.

i think youll never get a 100% rated supplier/manufacturer as somewhere somehow someone will have a problem thats due to miscommunication or trying one on as in to get a freeby or discount (not saying you are but people do try it in this day and age:D)
anyway some people do believe that staff are glued to the phones all day ready for you phone without hessitation....its christmas ...they are bound to be busy...try again later:p

i myself have never had any problems (touch wood) from this and most other major online suppliers and would always recomend Ocuk to freinds.

as to the hazro screens i think when they started the range it was a trial/error for the public domain as they specialize in hopital scanners/displays and so had major teething problems which are still biting back like tazmanian devils but they may have it sussed when the next new batch are out in feb/march.

i myself have ordered the 30" on offer at a great price and im lucky as i looking into it 2 months ago when it was £860 and was umming and arring with it and the dell 3007-hc.

also its the only hazro to be almost faultless beyond the stand being the low point.

i think as mark has mentioned that the snow is somehow caused by the newer ati cards using higher non-industry standard frequeinzies which in turn is causing a simular affect (snow) to a tv with a dodgy ariel (interference/static) and this is blocked out by changing the dvi connection point on some ati cards as they use a different chips for each dvi socket and ones better grade than the other thus sheilds better.

cure may be to purchase a nvidia card:p

Mrk are you a photographer as i was browsing you site the other day and was impressed with your portfolio ( if they are your portfolio;) )
