Hazro - Any Update?

And extras ;) i cant mention :(

the techy didnt say how many just a lot of compatability problems and when you actually think about it just how many stands and arms are there on sale that can take the weight? not many tho as you have got one mark:D ergotron come to mind but im not sure how compatability could be an issue on a wall bracket if its industry standard? weird.

And u think he would track u down to this website? Did u sign an NDA?! Would anyone trst Hazro again after their abismal customer service in most cases in this thread?

I've spoken to a few of the Hazro people on the phone but only during the first phase of 24W to 24Wi changovers and firmware changes etc with feedback and stuff so I'd be interested in learning more about the n ew screens as they only hinted at them coming previously so sounds like they know the spec and everything now. *points at trust email!*

I doubt they will make me want to change the HZ24Wi for one but if they do a 26/28/30" and the technology is vastly improved (new gen) and the price is decent and I can get a good return £ on my 24" then perhaps an upgrade could be possible :p

A lot of ifs though...

thanks mrk for the good replies but seriously why does everyone slate them?

yes its been discussed their after sales leads a lot to be desired due to waiting for replies but seriously no company has all stars ticked on every department and at least the hardware hazro gives out is high grade (apart from the 24/26i firmware issue) if thats not what you after im sure theres a lot of nasty plastic panels just waiting for you out there with their advertised high grade TN screens ;).

and no i didnt sign any non disclosure on the information he gave me i just said id only give some basic details out if he was okay and inform people enquiring about the backplate with the information he provided on this forum.

as im at least a person of some integrity unlike some who dont know the meaning and think keeping some stuff confidentional whether important or not is the same as telling everyone on the forum :( geeessshhh.

Aluminium screens like these have a certain flavour to them I gotta say, it's teh first thing people comment on when they see it and now of course the Ergotron arm :p

I'd probably have gotten one of the Apple Cinema 24" screens if I could As they're completely minimal and use LED backlights but the mini displayport only connection and lack of HDMI etc as well as price is off putting :p

The lack of customer services was due to the fact they have started farming out their warranty section to another company, who apparently were not receiving the requests, other than through the [email protected] and not the usual web note method that every one has been using.

They also told me about the LED backlit panel they would be bringing out in August time, which may be later as its all ready been put back. As they want to get it right first time round. ( I do not blame them, as the firmware fiasco coupled with a communications ****-up doesn't exactly install any confidence in the company )

As for the extra`s that cant be revealed, they are nothing that other monitors haven't got and the likes e-sata oops..... did i just say e-sata

That's what was said.
e-sata though is just a step up from usb.
Instead of all the gimmicky extra`s I wish they would concentrate on a monitor being a monitor and performs exceptionally well in that department only.

I see where you're coming from, they were my thoughts too.
Once connected, I suppose it would save you from routing around the back of your PC every time you connect your e-sata device

Hi All

I've seen a competitor (would be rude to name them) is about to get some limited stock of the newly revised HZ26Wi (they don't quite define this though of to state firmware v2.1 - all previous issues fixed).

I'm in the market for a new monitor - is this worth the punt or did this screen never get properly fixed. For example, I do really want to be able to control the backlight brightness.

Thanks for your help.

I`m sitting in front of a HZ26Wi with version 2.1 firmware.
Like many other monitors, you cannot directly adjust the back light.

Out of the box it is quite bright. 270 cdm2 if I remember right.
I adjusted the brightness and contrast down to 48 26 respectively which gives a nice 140cdm2 after calibration with a black level of 0.45cdm2

Thanks for the reply.

Primarily I want a monitor for photo editting and gtraphic design (manga artwork for example) though I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be playing the odd game (badly!).

Overall would people now recommend this monitor for this kind of work?

Thanks

Danny B

If you're are planning on photo work, its also a good idea to invest in a good monitor calibration device, especially as its a wide gamut screen.

I use mine for photo editing and gaming.
Photo shop wise its great, plenty of room to work with, nice, crisp, clear, vibrant images with very little noticeable gradient banding.
Gaming wise, its good at that too, very very little input lag, the lowest of all the ips screen out there ( i think :) ) and no noticeable motion blur.

have you read the review at TFTCentral ? http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hazro_hz26wi.htm

The banding issues they mention are with the early firmware versions. With the new firmware its almost completely gone

I have read the review, thank you. It just seems that buying a monitor in this price bracket is a bit of a minefield.

I've been trying to get on with an HP LP2475w but its having to be RMA'd due to the pink / green tinge problem and so am looking at alternatives.

Don't fancy the Dell 2408wfp, can't afford the NEC (although I'm tempted to push the budget) and apart from that choices are limited.

I am going to get a calibration device shortly.

The only other one I'm tempted by is the Eizo s2242w but that's an S-PVA screen (a good 'un though by all accounts).

Seems to get an IPS screen to work well money needs to be spent on the internal hardware that goes with hence why NEC's are good but exepnsive and everything else seems to have compromises.

Thanks for your feedback though, I like to here what experience real users have as well as read the reviews.

I've had my Hazro 24W for almost a year and have put up with the gradient banding because everything else has been perfect. I was wondering now, almost a year on, whether it's easy to get the firmware upgraded to remove the banding?

I'm just in the process of finding that out. Waiting on a response at the moment...

Me too, on 1.0 firmware still-

Would green sparkliness be fixed by a firmware upgrade, or is that a hopeful-DVI-cable-upgrade thing?
