Hazro - Any Update?

So, now that Windows 7 is out and promises Wide Gamut support, how do I configure it to play nice with my HZ26Wi, what colour profile do I need to load?

You need to calibrate it using a calibration device such as i1Display2 or Lacie BlueEye Pro (the same device but difference software).

Bah.

I don't have one as I don't care about it being bang on 100% accurate, just pretty close will be fine. Do Hazro not provide a basic colour profile for the monitor like some other manufacturers do?

Maybe a little OT for this thread, but does Win7 actually fix the colour space for non colour aware apps such as games?

NO I wouldn't see how games would solve the issue if they were not made colour aware - same reason why Firefox is now colour aware since the later versions.

Profiles are not included because every monitor is different, even like for like models. Every screen needs calibrating individually which gives a profile accurate for that screen only.

Bundled profiles are fine but pointless because you're still at square one, it's no different to visually calibrating and saving a profile based on your own eyes.

You could just run the screen calibration tool built into Windows 7 to see if that gives a more pleasing result.

Well if you know the colour space that the monitor has, and just assume that the games etc. are using sRGB then it'd be pretty easy to get accurate colours in games and other non-colour-aware applications.

Isn't that pretty much what Apple do?

Guess I'll try to find someone locally with a calibrator and borrow it.

Do you know the differences in the way win7 will handle a wide gammut display compared to vista for example.

Ive got a HZ26Wi now and even in firefox with the color management plug in the reds and green still seem more vibrant than before with the HZ24Wi

PSU schematics

Hi all.

I bought a HZ26wi about a year ago, and apart from the occasional
green snow episodes and really evident backlight issues, I can say
that I was satisfied with it. The image quality was good, the colours
lovely. No dead pixels.
A few weeks back, the power supply went FIZZ-CRACK-blip (aka dead),
and my monitor became useless.
I have contacted Hazro several times, both via their web form and
their support email, but they just ignored me, as did who sold me the monitor.
I suppose they are just waiting for the warranty period to expire.

Finding a replacement PSU is not a trivial task, as it uses a non-standard
plug, with unknown voltage assignements.
Has anybody managed to get their hands on the full PSU specs?
Or even better: an online retailer with a proper replacement in stock...

It would really help me if you could share your knowledge with me.
:)

Many thanks.

When mine died last year they replaced it within 2 days but back then they were still in operation lol.

Thanks for replying, sid.

Well, if they're out of business, my only hope would be
a compassionate owner of a voltage tester out there,
who could tell me what's coming out of which wire... ;)

Someone in this thread found a PSU with the same plug and same voltages but a different pinout and therefore you just need to chop the end off it and solder it back on in a different order.

Sorry, I can't remember who it was or what page, but I think it was within the last 20.

:D trust me they are not out of buisiness ...liquidated...bankrupt etc (at least not couple of weeks ago :) ) as i had my 30" back from them 2-3 weeks back which went in for a minor firmware patch and technician was called lutfer who a lot of people may have spoken to on the phone as hes the senior tech.

anyway sometime in the month they apparently have training days which many companies have nowaday so they are lower on manpower but they do.

longest i got for response was 1 week and thats because it fell on a training week but remember they are in the process of a roll out for their new range of led screens any month now with all the bells and whistles from mood lighting efects to esata points - should look really good.

anyway try the support ticket on their website and also email [email protected] and try again the next day but remember to write your monitor serial number in the subject line on email and only that otherwise their system transfers it to anothe department and that takes months to get passed on.

sorry if this doesnt help but they are there and will answer once they receive the ticket usally next day but i have once had same day.

kind regards,

The PSU that came with my 26Wi was a li shin 0227B24130

Lum: you're right about that post, of course, it was a couple of pages ago. It lacked details on the pinouts, but thanks for pointing me in that direction.

HornyRhino: Nice pointers, my friend. I'll go and do just what you suggest, just in case they're willing to honour their word (call it warranty). I think I am going to stick that s/n pretty much everywhere, except where I would really like to, which I am too polite to say, but it involves Hazro's CSO manager* and a palm-sized cactus plant. ;)

*He just has to have pointy hair, doesn't he?

Mick-1965: you sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. Apart from being born in the best possible year for doing such a thing (which I am inferring from your tag, of course). The tag on my psu says Welltronics wts-2405, but if that is not a rebranded Li Shin, I think it would be safe to assume that it can be used with my monitor. :)

Thanks a zillion to you all for taking the time. :)

The Welltronics PSU`s if you read through this whole thread were know to be problematic.
My 26Wi came from Hazro 2 months ago as a replacement, including this li shin PSU. So you can only assume these are the PSU's that they are used now.

The only time I saw green snow on DVI was when I hadn't bothered screwing the cable /tight/ at both end. This is no VGA cable guys, out a bit of force into the connector and get these screws tight.

Can anyone confirm that this power supply will work with my 24Wi? (that came with a Welltronics power supply). It says it outputs 5.42 amps (instead of 5.0 like the Welltronics one), and there's no way to guarantee the pin-out is the same.

I bought my monitor while i lived in the UK, then brought it with me when I moved back to the US. Imagine my chagrin when I looked closer at the power supply and found out it only accepted 190-240v (I've gotten so used to eletronics taking 100-240 that I didn't even bother checking). I'm currently using a step-up voltage converter, but I don't like the extra heat/power/noise/space it uses.

I went ahead and bought this power supply, because this forum took 3 days to 'approve' my new account, so I couldn't check with you guys first. I'm hoping someone can confirm that I got the right one.

(Also, stupid Hazro never responded to my multiple support e-mails)

The 5.4Amp is the maximum the psu can supply. The monitor will only draw what it needs. So in regards the the Amperage rating the higher the better.

Regards to polarity of the plug... If I remember right there was a picture on the Welltronics PSU itself showing the polarity. ( I even think some one a few pages back posted it up if you care to check )
If you cross reference that with the spec in that PDF I posted you should know if you're good to go.
Hope that helps

I'll try to get a pic of the power supply I've got and compare it to your PDF. However, didn't someone say they were shipped a replacement Power Supply that was one of the new ones? I assume if the pin-out is different, the whole monitor would need to be different, right? (or at least the port on the monitor itself)
