Hazro - Any Update?

I'm moaning because:

1. I spent £450 on a monitor.
2. It's faulty
3. The company promised a date for a fix. It came and went without any response from them.
4. My RMA window to Overclockers has expired within this period.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable.

To their credit though, I've already had a response from Hazro. Bog standard reply but they do state:

All monitors affected by either or both of the above issues
are to be re-called as there would be significant delays in
developing a user installable firmware fix. Hazro estimates
that a firmware upgrade will take approximately 2 hours and
in most cases, the Customer will have their monitor returned
within 24-48 hours [depending on the time of day a returned
unit arrives back at Hazro].

Hazro will provide further instructions via email on how to
register for a firmware fix. A self-registration portal is
being set up to automate the returns procedure. As mentioned
in previous communications, an upgrade on the HZ26Wi is
scheduled for one week after the upgrade on the HZ24Wi.

...
Hazro will email all affected Customers with a link to the
self-registration portal once completed.

So, I'm very pleased with their quick response. Now I just want my monitor to be perfect, which it very nearly is.

The stupid thing is I'm waiting on this being resolved before we order 4 of these for work.

How can you make sure OcUK would send you a "working" 24Wi without banding or snow effect ? They just answered me that they can't do the formware upgrade on their existing stock ...

This is the annoying thing for me.

There is no way I am ordering a faulty monitor and having to send it to Hazro immediately.

Thing is, I sense that for the next 6 months or so, the stock is going to be a mix of firmware updated screens and non-updated screens.

Therefore, I'm either going to contact Hazro directly or just not order one at all.

Well, I hope they have new stock ones firmware updated fixed by at least february, march next year, as I don`t want to be buying one of these if new stock ones don`t have firmware fix in place.

Why wouldn't it be possible for Hazro to update the firmware to all of OcUK faulty monitors. They would need to do it anyway once a unit has been purchased.

Just to add insult to injury - it appears that my AC/DC adapter power brick has lost the will to live. I've tried swapping the power cables over but unfortunately there is no life (green indicator).

Its slightly confusing as it was ok last night and when I got home from work today I couldn't get the screen to power up - i've contacted Hazro so i'll see what happens. (typing this on another computer until i can get my CRT set-up)

Hi guys,

As said a few days back i sent a happy webnote to Hazro trying the polite approach. Got no response and was starting to get worried.

I mentioned that I had the banding issue and a brigher bottom left than I was totally happy with. No green snow.

however today I got a response:

Dear xxxxx xxx,

With reference to your enquiry, please find the outcome, solution or answer below:

Back-light non-uniformity is a drawback of S-IPS panels and is to be expected. An ISO policy exists which outlines the acceptable limits of non-uniformity in panels. Hazro can conduct tests to check if the issue is within specified limits.

A firmware upgrade is imminent for customers who have reported problems with banding. A Firmware upgrade registration form will be published on-line in due course which has a section under which any other 'non-firmware'
related issues are to be mentioned. This registration form is then be printed and included within the packaging.

Hazro will look into all the problems reported by customers upon receipt of the returned monitor. The registration form is due to go live imminently and a link to the form will be emailed to all customers.

Please note that Hazro will make every attempt to repair existing monitors. However, should this not be possible, a replacement unit may be issued.

Should you require further assistance in relation to product warranty, please feel free to get in touch via the temporary online contact form.

Yours sincerely
xxxxxx xxxxx

They're pretty pro-active and want to fix issues indeed :) I wouldn't get worried about not getting issues fixed, they're not the size of Dell for example so I doubt they can churn out responses to everybody as quick as we'd like but they'll get sorted I'm certain!

Just out of interest, in your OSD, is 'Saturation' greyed out? Mine is and I want to tone down the vibrancy a little. Maybe it's something they can do when they fix my screen.

Just had a new 'issue' - powered up my screen and it just showed a blank image and wouldn't respond to any of the controls. Had to unplug it and then plug it back in and now back to normal. Wierd!

I still see a lot of random issues with this monitor, but I'm so tempted to hit the buy button and hope that I get a perfect one. I think I'll most probably buy it tomorrow, unless somebody gives me a good reason why I shouldn't...

So does that mean we should all get the extra shielding done in case we get a high spec gfx card? I'm in the process of upgrading everything and will be getting either 4870/4870 X2 or 260/280. At present my trusty FX6800 is performing admirably and no sparks on screen.
