Hazro - Any Update?

I hope i get one of the upgraded ones from OCUK it was supposed to arrive today but when i phoned they had made a mistake on the order and it's coming tomorrow now.. fingers crossed it's a good one!

At last some communication from Hazro - just had a phone call from a very nice guy confirming all of the above.

Firmware upgrade has fixed the banding. They're also performing fixes for the snow on all monitors and are awaiting cable for them which should arrive tomorrow. They offered to send it back with the firmware fix if I really needed my monitor, but I said I'd wait for everything to be sorted.

I checked that they wouldn't just be sending the monitors back randomly - they'll be calling to book a return date, so no one should have problems with deliveries.

It's also confirmed that they're performing the fixes on all reseller stock. They've got a hell of a backlog to get through, but give it a week and all OC stock should be fixed.

I'm a lot happier to have had some direct contact. A little better communication wouldn't have gone amiss and would have cut the negativity that I and a lot of other forum members have been shelling out.

I'm very excited that hopefully next week, I'll have the perfect monitor. Then we can get on with ordering some for work :)

I'm slightly nervous with monitors after a shocking time a few years back, with Acer.

My first TFT, a 17 inch Acer, went wrong really shortly after purchase. It disappeared into Acer 'Customer (complete lack of) Services' for 3 months. I spent hours on the phone, waiting 15 minutes every time I rang to be put through to call centre idiots who kept informing me they were waiting for a part.

Somehow I managed to get it escalated and eventually got a replacement (demanded a better model and got it at least).

Hence the concern here and hence why I will never buy any POS from Acer ever again.

But yeah Robbie, all good fella :)

That's funny, I had almost the exact same experience with Acer, three months and they finally fixed the monitor, only for it to stop working again two weeks after I recieved it back; needless to say I went straight to the retailer this time and they gave me a full refund, despite it being over a year old.

My 24wi used to output quite a lot of heat, I doubt when it's back from upgrade that fact would have changed.

My house is getting quite cold now, so I'm happy for the heater :P

Some good news.
I can confirm the new firmware has completely fixed the banding issues on vertical gradients.

Try as I might in photo shop playing with the gradient tool and various colours, no dithering, I could not get it to band.
Even the color spectrum display in checkemon displays correctly.

So you've got yours then?

Any other changes, such as back light levels? :)

My Measured black level was 1.4cd/m2 before
This one goes down to 1.06 cd/m2. Still not brilliant but better. I think this is monitor dependant though as MrK`s goes down to 0.6cd/m2.
Not enough of us have got calibrating devices so its hard to tell.
Really what the monitor needs is the ability to adjust the back light level in the menu.

Yeah, I was hoping they may have added it into the menu, seems not though :(

I was hoping the firmware would fixed the banding (and it has woohoo) and also give back light control, as I find mine a little bright.

My order for a 24Wi has just been despatched to me, so I should get it tomorrow. This if ro my parents, as I already have a 26Wi. They told me on the phone that it would be from the new batch in the warehouse, should be the new firmware. Guess I'll find out tomorrow. I suppose I'll be one of the first to be able to compare the 26Wi and the 24Wi then, and see which I actually prefer in terms of the glass front coating of the 24Wi, which I assume I won't like as much as the matte 26Wi.
