Hazro - Any Update?

Hmm where abouts are they again? I'd like to know myself :p

Well, the warranty centre is in Digbeth, cannot give you the whole address as cannot remember it! Very close to Bullring though for the other poster who mentioned going (decent enough as shopping centres go, plus they have a (small) Apple Store and a proper Kripsy Kreme (i.e. they make them onsite) at Selfridges).

So those who bought the monitor from OCUK have to send a webnote to OCUK to get them to contact Hazro to get Hazro to tell OCUK to tell me that Hazro will pick up the monitor to fix it?

If you've not reported the problem to hazro yet then do so via their webnote, they will be able to advise you on the next step !

Although it’s inconvenient and annoying, I think I’d rather have the screen sent back as I hope that even if you don't suffer from the green snow yet, they may apply the shielding regardless.

By all accounts everyone who frequents this forum and owns the 24" have reported the gradient/ banding & green snow problem, so I would imagine that a fair few will be going back for the fixes.

I just hope that this will be the end of the issues, as I’m sure this is the last thing Hazro would want - taking the cost to one side it doesn't exactly endear themselves to potential buyers by having to apply these updates off-site. Although having said that you could look at it as being excellent customer service by acknowledging the problems, fixing them and bearing the cost themselves.

sorry, hard day.

This is taken from their email they sent

The above issues affect only a handful of monitors. Hazro
will strictly enforce the Warranty Policy
which can be found
in all instruction manuals and also on-line at:

http://www.hazro.co.uk/downloads/Hazro_Manual_v3.pdf

Please refer to the 'Miscellaneous Issues' section and point
3 in particular.

With this part in particular. They state this and want us to send in the monitor.
If they stuck to their warranty policy then it would be a swap out wouldnt it

One webnote sent.

Regarding the enforcing of the warrant and getting a swap out:

Whilst I can see your point, they are paying carriage both ways and turning the monitors around pretty fast. Cant really complain.

My only worry is getting a different monotor back than the one i sent out , despite their reassurances.

im going to etch my name into the nice black aluminium with a compas.

that will do the trick.

That's called "white glow" and is a drawback of IPS technology, it seems to be worse on a glossy screen though, as it it's hardly apparent at all on the HP 2475 I got instead.

The only way to prevent the "white glow" is to have an A-TW polarizer, and only NEC have those added by LG.Display - so you'll be looking at paying silly prices for a 2690.

Roll on SED I say, that'll do away with all these LCD drawbacks :p

Thanks for the reply, I'll just be contacting them and telling them I need the firmware and green snow sorting, I have no dead pixels so didn't really want to swap my panel if they all have the problem :/

I think probably a sticker on the back with your name and address will do instead of actually damaging the casing?

I'll be going along the sticker route :]

agreed, its something that the monitor should never have shipped with, and they have taken too long to get to this stage - which is no where near fixed.

It's nice to see that the Hazro is on offer this week, but am I right in thinking that the monitors OCUK are selling will still have these issues? Do you guys reckon Hazro will release a version of the monitor with the fixes, or will it just have to be returned to get them?

New stock will probably have the fixes incorporated, but any out in the wild will have to be returned by you to Hazro after you receive it from OCUK.

Yeah theres no point having these on offer when they're faulty.

If I ordered one, I'd then have to arrange for it to be collected and fixed.

It's ridiculous. They should probably send all their stock back to Hazro to be fixed before selling any more.

Or better yet, UV marker and put obscene words around various bits of screen :D

won't the price drop as the dollar gains against the pound?

Nope, every single part of the Hazro is sourced from overseas and then assembled in Brum. If the pound falls, imports become more expensive, and as a result everything we buy that's imported (apart from the odd bit of fruit and veg, pretty much everything these days) goes up in price.

HP have already stated they are putting their prices up from October on computers.

I'm pretty annoyed that the supposed fix, that was due to land today, hasn't arrived. Nor has any information from Hazro aside from what has been posted by a third party here.

I love this monitor, but it's worth bugger all to me, as a designer, if this banding remains. The 28 days return window is worryingly close and I really don't want this stretched out any further.

I've now got the hassle of waiting around for a courier to pick up my monitor, then waiting around again for it to be returned! I'm glad I kept my old screen as a backup. I really didn't think I'd be having to put it to use quite so quickly.

Losing patience on this.
