How many Focus ST owners on here

I was going to say, there was no way you had actually managed to order directly from Peter. He's got a reputation for being uncontactable.

Yeah, tried SCC first, waited four months because I'd been told Spec-R take their time, so when I contacted them they said Spec-R never got the order  Tried Sico, and told them a few days ago that I'd waited four months the last time so didn't want it to happen again, they said they couldn't confirm either so refunded straight away, both places have stopped stocking Spec-R stuff, lol.

Phoned Matt Lewis and he had 3 header tanks and a power steering tank in stock, so bought them, getting them delivered tomorrow, lol.

I've also ordered a strut brace, lol

Good idea, get them whilst you can! Will look great when all fitted.

I hpi checked it yes he's the only owner from new as the v5 says etc. it's been serviced at the local ford garage near him all its life. The gauge is going to at least 3/4 most of the time apart from in 1st but I can't believe how once it's boosted all the way the power of the car dies and I have to change gear almost like in a diesel. My ST220 used to hit 70mph in 2nd but after the boost this is dead at about 45- 50 tops. It's only in 4th and above it pulls really well imo

Check the Symposer?

Is there anyway for a garage to check for these problems or is it something I'll just have to pay out for to see if it solves the problem? And how much we talking including labour?

Symposer is easy to DIY. Buy a bung from eBay for £5 and do it yourself. Have a google but basically it adds noise to the cabin. If the diaphragm goes it can lead to boost issues.

I can't really see the gains of deleting it tbh, if it works why mess.

As for the rolling road idea, good idea really about 30-40 quid for a few runs perhaps. But perhaps see if the roller place can do a smoke test also. Look for any boost leaks. Seems weird you say it dies pretty quickly @ 4k revs.

Mine pulls hard right up to just over 6k and goes like a rocket really for under 300BHP :) It does boost all the way up though :D

I deleted mine, they're a waste of time if you ask me. Pain in the ass to get the compression hose clip off if you haven't got the right tool though, eventually managed with some pliers.

Have you got a local ST specialist anywhere near you?

Might be worth giving them a call and explaining you have just bought the car, can they give it a service/checkover

Anyone know of any good ST specialists in Merseyside? Or rolling road places to get it tested on? It was serviced 2 months ago by Halfords which cost the guy £200

Are you on facebook? the ST owners club will be a good place to ask.

I wouldnt pay £2 for a service at halfords!

WR tuning charged me £100 for basic service and check over (including fixing the heat shield back on and checking my hardrace wishbones were tight) although they are north of Aberdeen, so not very close to you!

Thanks for the info everyone! I'll have a look around the ST owners club etc.
I swear the turbo gauge stuck a little bit today in 2nd causing me to accelerate in a jumpy manner. I might just get the boost solenoid done see if that changes anything. Why do these cars have to be so temperamental :( I like to know my car is running 100% which is hard for me to do without getting it on s rolling road.

About 50 miles away but I'd go to Collins Performance personally.

yeh the guy who purchased my ST220 from me last month recommended them also when i said i was getting the ST225. Where about are they based? if mine is already remapped can they put there own on it and check for faults if i was to take it somewhere like that?

Congleton I think.

They can put their own map on, they should be able to put back the standard ford map on as well if yours is already remapped, but they should be able to get to the bottom of any faults you have.

Where is the best place to buy a boost solenoid as cheap as possible? Cheapest I can see anywhere is £65.
My car was boosting to only half today at certain points so I'm still happy to believe that the old guy I purchased from didn't have it remapped even though on the motorway the boost needle is going all the way. So I'm going to replace the boost solenoid which is worth a try.
Has anyone got any ideas about the actuator? And cost? As I have heard that being faulty can make it overboost!
