Hydroxycut & Weight loss supplements

Talking to me? I know I've lost fat, if not weight. It's blatently obvious if you look at me. That's why I don't understand why the scales aren't changing.

Oli, have a read of this and see if it helps you to make any sense of the scales. It relates directly to the Atkins diet, but could also be applicable to your apparent weight-loss (or lack of):

STALLS -- WHY THE SCALES CAN LIE
A biologist at Berkeley shared something very revealing on the low-carb BBS system about 4 years ago that helps us all through the erratic weight fluctuations you invariably encounter: Fat cells are resilient, stubborn little creatures that do not want to give up their actual cell volume. Over a period of weeks, maybe months of "proper dieting", each of your fat cells may have actually lost a good percentage of the actual fat contained in those cells. But the fat cells themselves, stubborn little guys, replace that lost fat with water to retain their size. That is, instead of shrinking to match the reduced amount of fat in the cell, they stay the same size! Result - you weigh the same, look the same, maybe even gained some scale weight, even though you have actually lost some serious fat.
The good news is that this water replacement is temporary. It's a defensive measure to keep your body from changing too rapidly. It allows the fat cell to counter the rapid change in cell composition, allowing for a slow, gradual reduction in cell size. The problem is, most people are frustrated with their apparent lack of success, assume they have lost nothing, and stop dieting.
However, if you give those fat cells some time, like 4-6 months, and ignore the scale weight fluctuations, your real weight/shape will slowly begin to show. The moral of the story - be patient! Your body is changing even if the number on the scale isn't.

From the perspective of the scale, it can be discouraging. Which is why the mantra: Water retention masks fat loss (repeated frequently to oneself ) is helpful. Water retention will mask ongoing fat-loss for as long as the body retains the water. We can combat this by drinking more water... By weeks 5 and 6, things start to get back in balance, and the scale will begin to reflect the true fat-loss...which, as mentioned before is rate-limited. Individuals vary, but max weight loss runs about 2 pounds per week...under extremely optimal conditions... or 1% of body weight (whichever is the lower number).

So don't use the scale as an excuse to undermine your progress. Even when the scale is in a stall, fat loss can be occuring.

Anyone know if these are affected by or affect the contraceptive pill?

I haven't got pregnant yet whilst taking Sida ;)

To be honest, I was ill for a week and stopped everything and went back up a few lbs. Now i'm gradually falling back to where I was.

After testing this I have little faith that it is actually helping. How about you?

You won't gain any muscle with merely cardio.

Funny that cos My legs now fill my once baggy Jeans and other than doing a few weightless squats all I do is heavy bag work (good thigh work out) and hill sprinting. Both intense cardio exercises. You won't build mass with endurance type exercises but 'cardio' isn't just limited to long duration low intensity exercise. Explosive sprinting and bag work will build lean mass.

It used to work...I dunno if it still works now they took the ephidrine out :o

and there are such things as magic pills.

Balddog is correct. He advised me Hydroxycut many moons ago (4 years maybe?) i lost 2 1/2 stone in 4 weeks. That was with eating the same and working out the same as usual. :)

BTW this was when Epherdine was in Hydroxycut, it has now been removed and does not work as good.

You should try thr ECA stack. 200mg Caffiene, 18mg Ephedrine and 300mg Asperin.

Ephedrine can be found in DoDo's Chesteaze available over the counter at Chemist's (boots's etc..)

You should start with 100mg Caffiene to find your tolerance level's (2x ProPlus (50mg each), 1x Chesteaze Tablet (18mg) and 1 Asperin (300mg))

Well, just got around to starting my Sida. Been over a month since I recieved it but have had a few big nights out planned so didn't wanna drink whilst on it.

I don't normally have a problem trying out different supps but the "might cause heart attack or stroke" on the back doesn't feel me with confidence. Have just had one cap will see how it goes!! :D

Bah, walking can cause a heart attack too, but we all do that :)

Anyways, check the 'dropping dead' thread in GD

So any updates on this at all? I am tempted to try some Sida to complement my current cutting plan but am concerned at the possible side effects (e.g. difficulty sleeping, increased body temp etc etc)

Or more to the point....anyone see any significant losses while using the product and would you recommend it?

Been taking it for just under a week, no side effects at all. Not even feeling warm.

Will weigh myself tomorrow and see if i've lost any weight.

2 1/2 stone in 4 weeks holy **** !!! I've managed to lose 1 1/2 stone (11kgs) in 12 weeks through reducing my calorie intake by 500cals and doing cardio for an hour 4-5times a week.

Do you think taking sida/ECA stack and carrying on with my routine would speed things up a bit ?? I was 101kgs (15stone 8) and want to be down to about 12 1/2 stone so have to lose another 10kgs

I don't think i've lost 1lb from the Sida this week, and thats doing some extra cardio too :p

Nevermind! Will carry on for another week and see what happens.

You may have burnt extra body fat and built some muscle. Or maybe not, hard to tell :p

I know I saw something whilst on it for 2 weeks, don't know why I stopped.

I have enough for another month so I will start a new routine tomorrow :)

If I put on 1-2lb of muscle in a week i'd be pretty impressed ... :p

It's a supplement to a diet that is already in place. If you didn't lose a single pound then either your diet needs to be looked at or you are carrying water.

I fluctuate as much as 5-7 lb's depending on the time of day and depending n what I have eaten in the past couple of days, all due to water retention.

Completely aware of this :)

Been losing around 1lb a week for the last 10 weeks roughly, was thinking this might gimme a bit more of an edge. Diet is completely in check and don't feel like i'm carrying a lot of water. I'll give it another week or 2 though and see if anything happens!

Maybe i'm just too huge and need to take more? :p

If I take Sida, I take 2 tabs twice a day. So four a day. I think that is 800mg.

I'm back to 2 once a day. Stopped taking them cos they didn't seem to be doing much. Started again a week or so ago, and they're working much better. Think mine where stronger than everyone elses too?
