Hydroxycut & Weight loss supplements

When did we say we were using less effort? Nothing wrong with a helping hand.

Not if its not effecting the effort you put in, but all these wonder pills you can buy now days are breeding a generation of gym goers who don't feel the need to work in the gym any more because they've been brainwashed by all the adverts for these suppliments.

More people talk about what they are taking rather than doing now days.

Thats because we know doing a 30 minute run 5 days a week is sufficient, its common sense - where as a 'magic pill' as you call them are a bit more complicated than your average run - especially when I don't know what each ingredient is! :p

thats because of the internet not because of supplements...people talked before, you just didnt see it cos it was friends to friends. :dunno:

and given this thread and the apparent dedication of the poster in question, I dont think its fair to apply such blanket statements..Sure there are people who look for the wonder pill and use it to avoid going to the gym..but there are also many people who work harder than hell while taking supplements..

Blame the fair weather gym goers, not the supplements.

How are you taking the green tea extract? From what I can remember, this was pretty awful stuff, but perhaps you just need to get used to it.

Taking lemon, milk or sugar seems to dull the effect it has on the metabolism, from what I have read elsewhere.

Perhaps capsules or tablets would be the better option?

I'm not talking about the internet... the only forums I read other than this one have sub forums for nutrition aswell as training, I have no need to read up on nutrition. I see this behviour in gyms and talk about it in college, the pub, work etc.

You seem to think I'm accusing individuals of not training hard, I'm talking about the general public here. its not the suppliments fault... They are proven to be effeicent and to work. Its a mixture of the public and suppliment companys wanting to make money off them. They can't be blamed for advertising to stupid people but there has definetly been a rise in 'Lazy suppliment takers' recently.

Very interesting thread this. I've recently started bulking/trying to lose bodyfat and I'm currently weighing around 13.5 stone/approx 12% bodyfat. I've been taking Creatine/Whey Protein for a while and am slowly gaining muscle but getting rid of the fat is hard. I'm not much of an expert on supplements so taking some of these fat burning supplements isn't likely to effect what I'm already taking is it? I'm particuarly interested in the Sida Cordifolia...Also how cheap is myprotein.co.uk ?!?!?! I paid £20 for 400g of Creatine monohydrate powder from GNC and it's under £2 per 100g on that site!!!

I'm sure you already know this but bulking and losing bodyfat just isn't possible. Now for arguements sake you can build a little bit of muscle and lose some fat at same time but not much and you'd need to be very skilled with your training and calorie intake, and even then it's certainly not what I'd call 'bulking'
To bulk you need lots of extra calories and you won't lose bodyfat doing this. To burn fat you need less calories and you need to do cardio, you won't be bulking doing this.

I find the ECA stack comes into it's own when you're getting quite close to your goal as regards to bodyfat and you're starting to struggle to shift those last few stubborn pounds.

It's the cheapest yet the best place I've found yet.I've saved a small fortune since I found that site. Use this code MP5500 and get a further 5% off your first order ;)
You might want to check out their 80% whey, I think it's £38 for 5kg!! superb stuff that's as high in quality as any on the market, very few brands are as high as 80% and all are at least twice the price.

OK I understand what you're saying. So the best plan would be to try and gain the extra muscle first then worry about burning fat at a later stage. £38 for 5kg of whey is an absolute bargain - the stuff I buy from Holland and Barrett is £23 for 1kg (although I've been buying it on special offer for £9.99 recently although that's a limited offer and still works out more expensive.) I shall certainly be using that site for all my supplements in future.

My scales haven't budged since I started, which is ridiculous considering the amount my belly has shrunk ! Didn't realise scales could stay the same no matter what. Would have thought it would drop at some point?

I'm not taking any supplements although considering it. When I started to try to lose weight, I dropped about 500 calories a day from my intake and went to the gym four times a week doing about 600 calorie workouts. For the first week I put on weight and it stayed like that for the next two weeks, only on my fourth week I started losing weight.

Now I have still reduced my calorie intake by 500 cals but go to the gym five times a week and do 800 calorie workouts but the weight still doesnt fly off. I guess it just takes time, which is apparently normal.

I think I'll carry on with what Im doing but give the Sida and Green Tea thing a go for a month and see how it goes.

You guys have to remember that Muscle has a weight as well as fat... :p

You could loose fat and gain weight because you've grown muscle mass... ;) Rather than going off body weight, try and go off body fat.

But don't you have to be doing weights as well as cardio to gain muscle?

I don't currently make a habit of visiting the gym, but I cycle to and from uni daily (2 or so miles), fairly tiring on the way in but massively moreso on the way home as it's mostly up-hill.

Would taking one of these sida types help me get to the top of the hill without feeling like death, and mean that the exercise will have a little more effect on the amount of fat I am carrying?

I eat more than I should too - fairly healthily, just too much of it - so appetite suppression to a degree would be nice. Anyone know if these are affected by or affect the contraceptive pill?

Due to the extra energy benefits you should feel like you could exercise for a little longer than normal.

Typical Ingredients:

Sida Cordifolia (10% Ephedrine), Guarana (22% Caffeine) and White Willow Bark (20% salicin), Caffeine and Asprin

I don't think any of these affect the contraceptive pill.
