I have been suspended from work today.

I still say to read your handbook regarding procedure. I'm sure by suspending you without telling you why is a breach of that, meaning the whole disciplinary will fall apart if you point that out to them.

Also, you should have said your account was hacked and you have no idea who by. Let them try and prove otherwise.

A stupid reason all the same though, what a bunch of babies! Reminds me of my disciplinary I posted earlier for a Facebook post.

You don't need to give reason for a suspension at the time of suspension, as long as it is quickly followed by an investigation meeting. A suspension is to protect both business and employee, not about discussing wrongdoing.

Isn't this causing you a great deal of stress ? Meaning you maybe won't be available at the times they request

If they want you gone they till get you on gross misconduct... drag it out as long as you can. Then appeal and win on a misdemeanour

I work for a 4 letter world wide supermarket and the only half intelligent people at work that have ever been successfully sacked have been from failing or refusing drugs or alcohol tests.

Even scumbag guy caught stealing got his job and 3 months back pay back somehow

I guess when you have monkeys doing the paperwork they make plenty of mistakes...

I once got suspended on full pay for a month because I couldn't remember exactly where I was at an exact time that something happened (I could have been anywhere :p). I imagine even if they found me at the scene of the crime so to speak( it was proven I wasn't) I would have gotten off because of how badly they did things. Woman I was speaking to at ACAS occasionally was just laughing at how bad some of the letters I was getting where .

The admin/people side of things is so bad that we have had lads get payouts for grievances when all they originally wanted was an apology . It's all madness

At sainsburys they did. You had to have an investigation meeting at first where at the end they would say we are suspending you.

Advice guys. If I get the feels during the next meeting/disciplinary that i will be dismissed can I hand my weeks notice in or quit without being sacked? What is the best route to take in that situation?

I don't know how much you earn or how much the job is worth to you but it might be worth a quick phone call/consultation with a solicitor? Failing that give the CAB a call in the morning.

If you are due to be sacked then yes it probably is worth trying to negotiate with them, it might also be worth noting that you've been on the recieveing end of this stuff by one of the complainants.

If they do sack you then perhaps also speak to a solicitor, they could perhaps turn the sacking into a resignation + assurance of a good reference if the company has slipped up anywhere and/or maybe if you've got some evidence of this 'banter' you've been on the recieveing end of.

that was funny, I reckon if you'd done it without calling them ***** or ****ing fish bar faggots (:D) then you'd probably have got away with it without this meeting

still, well played regardless, I liked it even without knowing the people involved :)

I know a union rep who works for the same company in a related department. I've not seen or have a copy of the footage but I might be able to find out how the union would take it if it went beyond warnings.

It's not a good time to be an employee there, with a smaller chain closing down the larger stores are being forced to take on the additional staff as per contract, so if they can shed staff they will try to because of the numbers.

If you've never been suspended or warned before just apologise, say your apologise to cream guy and forehead to save face and then look for a new job.

You've posted before how it's going down the pan there, this should be the kick you need. Who wants to work with people who are that petty any way.

I've not seen the video so I don't know if it references the work place at all, but the policy you posted earlier seems to cover it.

Did you read and sign the policy stating that you understood it?

Also, you say there is an employee page where people post similar things, can you find the people making complaints on there and take screenshots to back up your claims?

Or just screenshot it all and drop everyone in it :D

It does seem like you'll be lucky to escape with a final written. Although in relation to your above question, they will most likely give you the option to resign.

You could try saying you believed you were at a level with those offended that you thought you could have this kind of joke and that you weren't out to upset anyone.

Offer a written apology if it means you can keep your job.
