I have been suspended from work today.

All sounds rather silly, how come in the original post you said you had no idea what this suspension could be over? Surely the video might have crossed your mind?

I read it as he just tagged 4 mates at work on the post not during work time, or did he add the names to the video etc.

If he just tagged them in the post so they could see it, his employer should not really be involved still.
If he put his mates in the video itself and updated to youtube or social media, then maybe they have a case.

Either way, his mates he has banter with sound like douchebags.
So does the employer. Not really soemthing they should be involved in.

For example, if I was at the pub (outside of my working shift hours) and a colleague arrived at the pub and we fell out because I called him a [insert an rude word] would my employer be entitled to disipline me for it next week? NO, why should social media be any different?

I agree with this, what I do outside of work has zero to do with them! even if I tagged 'work' collegues!

What a croc of ****!

Advice guys. If I get the feels during the next meeting/disciplinary that i will be dismissed can I hand my weeks notice in or quit without being sacked? What is the best route to take in that situation?

If the next disciplinary meeting concludes gross misconduct, you will be instantly dismissed without notice - You will need to hand in your notice before they conclude this investigation.

They have already presented their findings and listened to your defense, so the next meeting is more than likely the outcome.

It might have been created in light-hearted banter but on paper you have: 1)Created a video that targets staff 2)Compared the organisation/staff to Nazi Germany 3)Insulted Staff 4)A victim has taken offense and reported it.

Personal opinion: HR will not tolerate the above... If you want to leave with a clean reference, consider handing in your notice now and avoiding any further meetings

Most people are shocked to find that you and your behaviour represent your place of work even outside of work hours and off-site.

Many contracts have sections covering bringing your employer into disrepute and that it is gross misconduct.

Yeah, it's a common thing in many industries.

Honestly, if I put a video of me necking a bottle of vodka like the 'games' people play and a parent sees it, I'd most likely get the sack within a heartbeat. I'm good at my job and liked and all, but it puts the company into disrepute and causes issues with trust going forward.

That isn't the case at all, the OP created a video and explictly mentioned work colleague names in it. Clearly one of the staff has taken offense at this and the OP is being punished for bullying.

This isn't a simple case of tagging mates in a video, the OP has specifically targetted them in something he created. The medium it was shared on is irrelevant.

I have took the video down now. Sorry for those who have trusted me for the request.:(

Not had any post today so I would imagine if they have investigated it more I would expect a letter tomorrow for a meeting on Saturday at the earliest, looks like I will get the rest of the week off.

We get paid tomorrow so it's to town and get some toner from my printer and get the CV and letter printed off and handed in.

I'm amazed how many people say nasty things about work/colleagues and then don't understand why they get into trouble.
I did have one accusation against me around 7 years ago about something I had said on Facebook but in front of the 3 Managers in the room I logged onto Facebook and told them to knock themselves out while I walked out.
They called me in 10 minutes later and apologised saying I'd been very professional with a suspended colleague but I'd still like to know who dobbed me in.

Just make another video where you are the "victim" and say that was on Facebook too but whoever ratted you out deleted it before showing yours to management. Your word against his, neither to do with work (bullying can be two ways!). This should have either been sorted through mutual colleagues talking at work to tone it down, or outside of work.

Ideally you need to find out if this was done intentionally by the victim or if a manager is offended on behalf of the victim who might have seen the video. Either way if this cannot be settled outside with an apology it's going to be great for morale on those shifts working with the victim knowing anything you might say or do could be ratted out to management. I can't see them enjoying working there if the result of this is you losing your job as other staff will not trust them, leading to more bullying. Bullying or not this has been handled completely wrong, I have been bullied at work but I wouldn't dream of someone losing their job over something so petty.

I had something similar, I had a terrible migraine one day and just couldn't get out of bed so had to phone in sick.

My mother in law posted a photo of my daughter at the beach the same day and tagged me in it. The photo was taken 2 weeks before.

Someone, and I know who it was, printed it off and put the screenshot on the managers desk without even speaking to me or the manager. My manager found it the next day and I was pulled to one side and asked about it.

Even though he was a giant *** hat he took my word for it.
