*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

It depends, but many of them aren't particularly great/don't work properly/look rubbish.

There are good ones though. Widgets certainly aren't a feature I find particularly important.

I love the concept someone came up with where you can activate an app widget by like sliding down over the app and the widget opens in a sort of IOS folders opening manor. I thought that looked fantastic. It was like interactive icons or something.

It's quite simple for me.

Come the day of the announcement, I will be asking myself two questions:

- Is the new iPhone better than the 4S?
- Is the Android Market still crap?

If the answer to those two is yes, then that'll do for me. I couldn't care less if it makes me a sheep.

So is there absolutely no chance of them keeping the same dock connector?

I liked the fact that I could charge my phone pretty much anywhere (everyone I know owns an iPhone or iPod). :(

Also, for all of Android's customisation, you could count that as a negative. For example, some people may find themselves filling up the screens with widgets they don't want or need, or feeling most of them just look messy, when they'd rather just have an iOS style layout.

On this forum, customisation will usually win out, but in the real world it really doesn't.

A good launcher alone is a massive advantage over iOS. Soo many gestures and shortcuts makes navigating my phone a breeze.

Add circle launcher to the mix and all your fav apps are on the desktop - at the same time being out of sight - nice clean look.

Horses for courses - people need to get over the fact that there is no winner, just preference.

It doesn't make you a sheep, it just makes you wrong. Android Market crap? S3 sales figures say otherwise.

Besides which, you're over-simplifying things, as it's not just whether the 5 is better than the 4S, it's by how much and in what departments.

you'll still be able to if you carry the adapter with you.

No ****, but that was hardly his point. I hate unnecessary interface changes.

Think am well into the iphone camp now after jumping off android.

Have people in work coming up to with the sg3 showing it's shinny new features. I simply ask them do you use them day to day? :D

When I was on android I was always peaved off with the Google market. People on their iphone with their shinny new apps which I could not get.

For me the ios does everything I need in a very enjoyable easy to use package.

I spent more time on android playing around with widgets, lockscreens, operating system than I did using the phone. Dont get me wrong I would love to get a new android phone to have another tinker :D

Also the other half never tops up her phone but is always near a wifi signal so free messages are a life saver.

Do you HAVE to be rude?

I think it is a necessary change. The dock connector has been too big and nasty for far too long.

I don't think we've seen enough leaked parts to say that an iPad Mini will be coming out the same time as the new iPhone. That a smaller iPad will be released at some point is a realistic possibility, especially after those emails between the higher-ups were released.

On the subject of the dock, I can't wait. I think the 30 pin is a bit gash tbh - it can be fiddly to get in, you can't see what way round it is in the dark and it takes up a lot of space.

Someone feel like explaining the dock connector change? Or linking to an article that does?

Smaller dock = takes up less physical space = more space for other stuff = they moved the headphone jack to the bottom, leaving space up at the top of the phone for whatever new gubbins they're putting in this. Supposedly the dock can be inserted either way round, unlike the current one and there's also rumours it will be like the MagSafe connections. Welcome changes and they'll no doubt be Apple-priced adapters for the 30 pin in the same way they released a 30 pin to microUSB to comply w/the EU phone standards thingy.

Is the iPhone 5 going to be compatible with UK 4G networks - as I believe the latest iPad is currently not compatible with 4G that is coming out soon. Just like Australia. If this is true this would be really annoying - 3G has been around too long and is not fast enough!

Having considered Android many pages back in this tread, and having looked at the Google app store, I think its not a viable option any more for me. App developers spend more time and money developing iOS apps then they do for Android and the others. Looking at Google app store and what's available - it shows too.

So its back to Apple only option for me - but the iPhone really needs some killer feature, a longer screen is just not doing it for me, and with potentially no UK 4G!?! Would mean I would just stick with my existing iPhone 4 or get a cheap 4s (on 3G :() and go on a cheap sim only type contract and slash my monthly bills.

Also off topic a bit but is the latest 9.7 inch iPad likely to get a fresh of any sort in September? Like new dock or better battery etc? Thinking of buying one but not sure if I should hold off a month?

Is it really unnecessary? Since the interface was last changed, phones have got a lot slimmer and more complex.

Interface updates are sometimes necessary to save space. Otherwise we'd all be walking around with phones with parallel ports sticking out of them...

Not like we are going to have 4G anytime soon, still not got 3G in a lot of places!
Can't see there being a update to iPad, only just released the new one. They did a random sneak upgrade with the iPad 2 though (better battery or something).

Well after a bit of browsing, Orange & T-Mobile (EE) are supposed to be releasing 4G (1800mHz - This apparently is compatible with the iPhone 5) this year (Sept 11th) - they have apparently been busy upgrading there network with the help of Huawei.

With the rest of the mobile networks starting beginning of next year - wonder if there slots of 4G are compatible?

Well that's kinda what I'm expecting a sneak upgrade to the iPad. Although a port change is not very sneaky :P
