iTunes Match is live...

hmmm...I thought it was streaming. So why does it have the download icon?

And what happens to all that music I have 'downloaded'? When does it get removed?

It is a streaming service.

I just deleted a local file (option-delete) and then hit the play button on it. The cloud icon with the down arrow stays and it plays. It's streaming, it's not on my local hard drive.

It only downloads it if I click the download arrow. If I play, it doesn't download and store, it streams.

Sorry I should have clarified - It's not a streaming service on an iOS device. If the track isn't on the device and you click play then it will download the track, it will start to play instanty so you don't have to wait for the full download.

For £21.99 it's worth a punt regardless. Slowly uploading a bunch of mix albums I have, guess I'll just wait for it to upload...

Not streaming onto ios devices is a bit of a letdown but cool to at least have the option of downloading them when i fancy something different.

Hmmm, well after taking the plunge last night, it's seemingly screwed all my music. I've now got duplicate tracks after it has supposedly matched (i.e. they show up correctly as 1 track in itunes, but as 2 of the same on my phone (and the tracks are solely on the cloud and not on the phone).

No matter what I change it will not remove the duplicate either.

It was all working, I don't know what's happened but even though all my Albums/Songs show in the Itunes library I can't stream or download the from the Cloud :(

Not sure what this "Cloud" with the hashing means!

As you can see (above) everything is greyed out, can't play or download.

That hashing means that it's syncing with the cloud I think.

And the iCloud download icons indicate that the music isn't on your local computer any more, so you have the option to download it from the cloud.

(I think!)

Hmmm, seems some of my songs are getting marked as compilations by itunes. Additionally, by deleting the duplicated songs completely from itunes and icloud and then re-adding them, the duplicates disappear... which is weird.
