January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

I thought he was a bit cheaper but since all we have to go on is guesses from random journalists who knows

you are probably closer to the mark - which means AW is even less likely to spend £20m on a single player......he would spend that figure on nearly 3 instead!! :D

Yep, Arsenal's current first choice back 5 were almost certainly bought for less than Reina would cost. People talk about them putting the price up for Man Utd, but Arsenal are still a direct rival, even if they're not local, and in football terms they pose as big a threat as Man Utd for a Top 4 spot, I'd expect them to bump it up for Arsenal too.

Shefki Kuqi Newcastles number niiiineeee.

He can't seriously be the answer for Newcastle's striking problems, lol.

He'll run and put himself about but he must be seriously slow these days. :o

Will give Newcastle something different to the strikers they currently have, he's an option I suppose and I'd imagine a very cheap option at that.

Laughs - sorry you are dead wrong there (imo anyway)

Arsenal/AW are still able to get £7m players who actually cost that amount, and appear to be that value when they join you - £7-10m players that join Utd cost £15m-20m (and its not just down to Arsene being a whiley old codger either lol)

Utd get ripped off left right and centre because they have been a step above Arsenal / Spurs regularly for years (whether its in self - belief /team spirit but there has been something missing, which you occasionally find by fluke rather than judgement over a season and lose it again that Utd have more often than not for the best part of 93/94 - prresent)

Even the Invincibles side COMPLETELY fell apart as soon as they lost the first game against Utd - Even a loss this weekend for Utd against City (which would really annoy the team Im sure), ie 2nd in a row, wouldnt make Utd completely fall off the rails.....unless there are crucial long term injuries from the match .

edit - Just for the record there are some qualities that Arsenal have had over the years which I wish Utd had more of, like their sublime passing more often than not (although on occasion they do pass TOO much in the final 1/3). By no means do I think Utd are superior to anyone in a major way (well apart from maybe City - lol)

If Reina joined utd there'd be some kind of breakdown on here. Can't see it happening but if he wants to stay in England then logically it's only us or arsenal.

I'd certainly be one breaking down :)

Torres I didnt mind about, he was off form (and had been for quite some time), often injured and I thought we could replace him fairly easily.

Reina though...his form is pretty consistent, he is very rarely injured and I dont think he would be very easy to replace at all.

I read Reina has a 20m release clause - expensive for a 28 year old keeper but if someone is really desperate...?

Release clauses usually are though, 28 isnt too bad for a keeper, could get another decade out of a 28 year old keeper. No doubt its going to be the running Liverpool exit story through the summer, wouldnt be summer without the media going on and on about a particular Liverpool player imminently leaving, looks like its Reinas turn to be the focus of that.

Well it's not like you have anyone else left that people would want :p

Should be able to get 7 - 12 years out of him though , for that kind of length of service , its not that expensive at all

(I get what you are saying - most of the other Utd options are going for £15-20m and are 5-8 years younger)

If Reina was an outfield player, Utd would definitely NOT go for him as he is on the barrier of our hiring age limit (well I believe its 27), but as a proven EPL gk right at the top of his game - it wouldnt be so much of an issue imo

SAF keeps on saying "Utd /I have learnt my lesson after taking 6 years /10 goalies to find the right person after Peter Schmiechel before VDS arrived, We will buy experience this time" - means Utd wont even try for Reina lol (ie because he is saying that - he will go for one of the players who hasnt got EPL experience lol)

Well it's not like you have anyone else left that people would want :p

Laughs - Did you see the link the other day to Mascherano? Did make me laugh - absolutely pure speculation, no fact at all - but it was amusing (and highly unlikely either way anyway)

Kelly's got the potential to be a superstar for Liverpool and considering he's not playing in his natural position he's performed exceptionally well so far. Just hope he doesn't burn out like Insua did.

As for Johnson, I think the fact he's been so solid at left back proves he's got it in him to be good defensively as well as offensively but he probably has to concentrate more playing on the left than he does the right so makes less mistakes.
