*January Transfer Window 2014/15 Season Rumours/Signings*

No chance, he's a mile ahead of where players like Ronaldo and Bale were at a similar age and he's showing no signs of slowing down. They want the next big thing they can pay big money for him.

Hold the presses! Raheem scores 10 goals and a handful of assists in debut season, projected path is infinitely better than Ronaldo. £1 billion buy out clause.

Meh, like Michael Owen you mean? Right until he left Liverpool for £8 million and then disappeared.

Fortunately for us Ronaldo's highly unlikely to drop down to United's level and give up European football so Sterling will be staying where he is :)

That was 11 years ago, when he was 24 and on the last year of his contract. Not sure the two are in any way comparable.

:( if only that wasn't true.

Arsenal need a first team DM/CM and a back up. Flamini, well, 3 games and he's out for an important game and that is where his problem lies and he isn't good enough to begin with. Arteta.... just not good enough now full stop. He had one pretty damn decent season with us and has been utterly useless since maybe 1-2 months into his second season.

I don't care much about DM's in particular, many CM's are excellent defensively but great going forwards also, we just need more quality in there especially for the big games. We desperately need quality fullbacks and either a fullback who can play CB in a pinch(properly not like Sagna or Monreal "play" CB .... as in stand there and are ****) or we need some more CB cover.

Will Wenger try Chambers at DM to give him games, is he good enough there, don't know?

How can everyone on earth see Wenger needed defensive players in central mid and at the back. I mean even if you're deluded enough to think Monreal or Gibbs are good defensively.... how on earth could you think 6 defenders was enough to go into the season with.

25 man squad, probably looking for roughly 3 gk's, 9 defenders, 9 midfielders 4 strikers, with some overlap in midfield/striker being wide forwards/wingers. Arsenal have 2(realistic) gk's, 6 defenders, 42 midfielders and no strikers :p

Wenger does my head in, Mourinho who has had a history of frankly peeing money away since his first move to Chelsea on all kinds of poor purchases with a few good ones thrown in(more by luck than quality). This time at Chelsea he has picked a high quality player for the weakest position improving the team by a significant amount with each change. He's got the buying absolutely spot on.

Any manager that fails to identify the weakest position and strengthen it is failing IMHO. Wenger has been failing for a decade. Left back, DM and striker were the three main places we needed, no DM, no left backs and a crap striker who... no one has commented on it, Wenger said we wouldn't have bought had he been in England on 1st Sept which I still find baffling.

Sir Alex to help Man Utd sign Ronaldo

Manchester United chiefs are hoping Sir Alex Ferguson's special relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo can be used to lure the Real Madrid superstar back to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have the funds in place to signing the Portugal international.

Kurl would be a good number 2.

Utd linked with Krul move

Manchester United are favourites to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul in the January transfer window. The Dutchman has worked with Louis van Gaal before at international level.

Krul to United is a rumour that was always bound to come up at some point. They've been linked with every other half decent Dutch player on the planet. Jasper Cillessen would make more sense, though. He was Van Gaal's first choice at the World Cup, he'd be cheaper than Krul, he'd likely have lower wage demands, and he's more likely to accept being number two.

I wouldn't blame Krul for wanting to leave, but I don't see him going to United to be second choice.

Now I mention it, Cillessen would be a good replacement if Krul does leave...

Arsenal do need to sort out their goalkeeper. Szcesney can be good on his day but he makes some really dodgy mistakes at times.

Casillas will make January move to Arsenal

Arsenal are poised to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas with the 33-year-old ready to leave the Santiago Bernabeu for pastures new.

Source: Le 10 Sport

Gunners eye up Casillas: Arsenal could reignite their interest in Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas in January, the Daily Mail reports. The Spain keeper has fallen from grace at the Bernabeu and was whistled by fans in Real's last two games, while Arsenal shotstopper Wojciech Szczesny has been unimpressive of late. The Gunners explored a move for Casillas in the summer, but ultimately decided against taking him to the Emirates. However, the Mail cites French paper Le10sport as claiming they could be tempted to go back in for him in the New Year.

Paper Round's view: Casillas may have won his place back in Carlo Ancelotti's side, but with Keylor Navas now in the mix as well as Diego Lopez, his days at the Bernabeu do seem numbered. The fans' backlash, however inexplicable, only reinforces that view. He is still a top keeper though, and could still do a job at Arsenal - at the very least he could provide competition for Szczesny and make the Pole raise his game.

Krul hasn't been good enough for a while now. Lack of competition or poor coaching I don't know, probably both. I'm sure it doesn't help his confidence having that back 4 in front of him either, but a lot of the goals we're conceding are simply down to poor keeping.
