Kickstart classic RPG - Wasteland 2!

Wasteland was my joint favourite game on the C64 alongside Elite. I will be living this if it comes off!

Looks like backers will be getting the original through GOG or steam this week:)

"All our backers – whether through Wasteland 2’s Kickstarter, as a late backer through Paypal, or if you got Wasteland 2 through your Torment pledge – will be getting a copy of Wasteland 1 for free," writes inXile's Chris Keenan. "They will be available as soon as the game goes live on GOG.com and Steam, which could happen as early as Friday, and we'll email our backers then. Access will be limited to backers only initially. You will be able pick between getting either a Steam or GOG.com key, whichever is your preference."
As well as being an easily accessible version of the 1988 classic, this release also offers a variety of extra features. In response to user feedback, the team have spent their time working on: "a toggle to turn smoothing off, implementing swappable portraits, tweaking portrait art options, in-game manual text on abilities, stats and skills and ensuring it works on Mac and Linux." Although, as commenters to the Kickstarter update point out, splitting the game between GOG and Steam does mean that there's no confirmed non-DRM option for users. While it's possible the Steam version will run without the client open - some games, although certainly not the majority, do - there's no way of knowing until the game is released.

Huh? I'm confused. Since when did using GOG involve DRM? What am I missing here?

Whats it like so far? Is it like Starbound/State of decay where it's early access but all there or is this just half of a buggy game? £29.99 is quite a lot but tbh Rome 2 was more and that sucked, so it wouldn't be too bad. Craving some isometric goodness!

I've been avoiding the early access on this as I don't want to have the full experience ruined for me.

Also, I've got a copy of the full game coming as part of my Numenera pledge so getting the beta is just a waste of money.

but now that it's here....

* We expect the final release price will be lower, but the free copy of Wasteland 1 and the extra goodies are exclusive to Early Access *
£29.99 for an unfinished game still in development which will be cheaper on release ? am I missing something here or are they really taking the p*** out of people :p

I don't understand the logic, surely early backers should be rewarded by paying less for helping them through the development, then on release of the finished project the price goes up ?

Or maybe because the earliest backers paid that price or more, so selling it for less to people who didn't kickstarter it giving them beta access would be rather unfair on those who backed it.

As ppl have said this is because people who kickstarted the game paid more so they don't want to make them angry its the same as with planetary annihilation I would have been angry if ppl got access for less then what I paid even with the other stuff.
They have to balance it plus keeping the price high slows down the amount of new people with new problems.
In the end if your in that much of a rush for the game then you would pay it if not just wait till its out ;)

Has anyone bought into this yet? Been looking for a new turn-based RPG to play to pass the time and hovered over it a few times on steam but still unsure.

Why beta test what looks to be a superb game? I can understand if you're interested in bug finding and want to try and direct how the game turns out and balance tweak etc, but I just want the best old skool, turnbased experience possible and will be waiting for the full release. Be patient! :)
