LG OLED 2022 Thread - A2, B2, C2, G2

I don't really have anything of substance to add, just want to share some news because I'm happy! Argued with Currys for a month and got £1899 for my LG C7, bought a 65" G2 and a Denon X3800H, can't wait to get it all setup!

I didn't realise the modern LGs have internal pattern generators, even works with HDR and DV. I already have a CCDIS3PL Display Plus, so for £130 for the Calman for LG software I can calibrate to my hearts content. Really happy about that, even if you wait 200 hours to calibrate it still shifts by 500 and even more by 1000 hours. Then if there's a fault and the panel gets replaced, your professional calibration money spent is down the drain.

I've read things about how OLED tellies aren't as good in bright rooms, but better in darker rooms - Any truth to this?

I'm looking to get a telly (around the 50-55" range) for a particularly bright room that has roof lights and bi folds - Would I be better off getting a Samsung QLED, or is the C2 series something to consider? I'll probably hook a PS5 / Switch up to it for the kids, but most of the stuff I will be watching on it will be Sport from a distance whilst cooking / clearing up. Mainly a daytime telly with some occasional evening use if the mood takes me.

Considering moving to a 65C2 from my
65C8 to take advantage of VRR and the likes, mainly console gamer (ps5/sx) and 4K movies, with sports as a main TV watch.

I’m not expecting mind blowing differences given the C8 is pretty good to my eyes already but has anyone else made a similar move who can offer some feedback please?

IT'll be a bit better. I' have a C6, C9, CX, C2, GX ..

I'd say the PQ different is pretty small. The C9 (and C8) have a very aggressive annoying ABL but gets brighter.
The C6 has a better ABL weirdly - its just far more natural. It has 3D. It also has better sound. And the motion seems a bit better weirdly. It has no 120hz, no VRR without a hack etc. It doesn't get as bright as the later OLEDs and its HDR is therefore inferior. Its out of the box gamma is not good.

the C9/CX are all really similar. Then there is a jump up in brightness also relative to pannel lottery. HOwever the brightness and image processing is a small incremental upgrade, with the C2 having MUCH better motion than every other set.

if you upgrade, I'd save a little longer and upgrade size to 77''.

Thanks for the response! I’m holding fire to see what deals come about for Black Friday

The deals on LG OLEDs have been pretty decent this BF, I got the 55"CS for £789 (really good TV IMO), I wasn't planning on getting an OLED, always just been a it too much for me to justify but couldn't stop myself at that price. The JL deal on today for the 42"C2 at £699 is very good.

I'm not a TV expert but I'd be inclined to just go with a cheaper QLED for a brightly lit room if the main use case is just casual viewing of sports/daytime TV + letting the kids use it for games.

Save the OLED for the living room or a cinema/games room if applicable.

Thanks for the reply mate. I did go for a Samsung QN90B QLED and am really pleased with it :)
