LG OLED 2022 Thread - A2, B2, C2, G2

I managed to pick up a C2 77" and it's an amazing upgrade over my old 49" Samsung, in picture and of course size.

Any tips in getting it set with 'optimal' settings? Had a look at AVF too.

C2 42" OLED - 200+ higher oled panel brightness + Specular highlights...... Tweak.,.

Not sure if this will work for you if you have the none EVO panel or if its a placebo but it works for me and i notice the brightness higher and even higher specular bright highlights.

though it requires knowledge of being able to get into your panels service menu, under OLED

turn these options off....

TPC and GSR off
HDR module : Change this setting from NORMAL to ON

this will give your pannel extra oled brightness and it will also give you higher oled brighness in SDR
i tested this as in OLED SDR i put brightness old @ 38 im not talking about brightness as i leave that @50

with those settings @38 when i change the above settings the brightness i get is much higher i have to lower SDR from 38 to 28 to get the same brightness as i had it at before changing the above settings.

i tested specular highlights and brightness with THE MEG in HDR and there was a very clear difference.

another tip i have found out is if your on picture settings on the tv and imput 1113111 you will get a hidden menu and if your watching a HDR content you can change the depending on contect your watching you can change the colorimetry to get a more accurate colors without doing a hardware calibration and if you change EOTF you can select if for instance your running a game on PC in HDR you can change the HDR mode to HLG HDR for a more accurate colors depending on game that is....

but those settings have to be change manually as they will not stick depending on what you want to do...

anyway most of this information is at your own risk... i have had my C2 oled 42" for 5 months and have no issues with gaming and burning of screens... and i watch internet all the time and youtube and game up to 6 hours at a time and no issues..... again use this info at your own risk......

i can not beleave the difference though im sure doing the top settings though gives me 200+ higher peak brightness over standard.

I missed the bank holiday sales but was able to price match richer sounds with marks electrical this morning. 979 for c2 55 if this helps anyone

Just had the most nerve wracking experience of my life lifting my new 65" Oled from the floor to the AV unit with my missus. It's a LG Oled 65CS and it's far heavier than my 55b7, partly due to the heavy stand.

I think I'm getting carried away. I'm actually seriously considering a G2

The 5 year panel warranty (which covers burn-in), the included wall mount, more robust build quality and higher peak brightness are tempting me to spend the extra £200 over the C2. Though given I started off looking at the CS (which was £829 at the time) I'm questioning my sanity somewhat.

Still, my current TV cost me a grand 14 years ago. So £1,200 today for a top-spec TV is a bargain, isn't it? :p

You've had your money's worth and then some!

I am thinking the exact same thing!

Hopefully I can hold on until April time and the new series are released hopefully a cheaper price can be had.

I got the 77" C2 during Black Friday and for my Xmas present my partner got someone in to professionally calibrate it

It's the first time I've had a TV calibrated and I've been blown away by the results tbh, the picture is incredible now and on HDR/Dolby 4k content it really has a 3d quality to the image. It's expensive to do, but now I'd easily recommend getting it done for high end TVs.

Looking to purchase a new tv max £1000.
Was looking at mini led (no burn in issues).
Was told by Currys that’s burn is not a problem on the C2 and is covered under LG’s 5yr panel warranty.

Having looked on the LG site, it mentions the Z and G series, not the C series!

I didn't think miniled was there yet, I thought it was still limited to something daft like 100 inches (which I would love to try, but that would deffo put me in the doghouse lol).

Currys told you wrong i'm afraid. As per LG's website, the Z and G series are the only Oled's to carry a 5 year panel warranty.
You can get a 6 year warranty from Richer Sounds, but under the T&C's of that warranty it explicitly excludes screen burn in.

Thought as much, think i will stick with qled or mini led

Really happy with my 65CS other than the remote, which isn't as good as the one on my b7, as I find the buttons are too close together for Netflix etc. I also feel TV manufacturers should introduce backlit remotes. I know it would impact battery life but usb charging would sort that.

Burn in really isn’t something to worry about, I don’t baby my C9 at all and it’s still has no issues.

Definitely wouldn’t be putting up with any backlight issues, blooming, the fact most mini led sets disable or reduce dimming zones in gaming mode.
