#MeToo - is it just different for men and women?

so the stupid people / media / FUTPRO felt gaslighted by his explanation/apology (you didn't see what you thought you did) and went for the jugular -

unfortunately the videos still don't show enough coverage of how he and other officials congratulated the rest of the team to give more context
(maybe FIFA couldn't afford more cameras for the broadcast coverage)

I don't know if Tate has given some feedback on this situation, and it's probably difficult for FUTPRO (spanish womens football) etc. to see how this plays into further polarization of relationship between sexes.

ok it's a form of expression we are unfamiliar with in the UK - but is it sexist ? rather what ancient man did when he vanquished his enemies, like the braveheart gesture,
not sure what what boudica did, in her turn
I'm hoping you're not basing your knowledge of history on the film Braveheart. Just about the whole of that film was fabricated including the wearing of tartan kilts.

hang on................no not buying it............ next you will be telling me it wasn't the US who stole the Enigma machine in WW2, but i dunno the Royal Navy or something......

I refuse to accept that Hollywood would not do their homework in their motion picture documentaries :D

That video helps add some useful context vs the shorter video, from the TV coverage, in wider circulation.

He's certainly the one displaying all of the exuberant behavior and the video confirms that he was then one who jumped up on the female player rather than being lifted.

I would agree therefore that an apology at least from him would have been in order but given the circumstances his resignation/ firing is almost inevitable now.

So the posters saying she lifted him into the air weren't being honest. He clearly lifts his feet off the ground leaving her no choice but to take his weight. And he clearly grabs her head and kisses her. If he had handled this differently he might have got past it but with the problems the women's game is having with the Spanish FA and now his reaction to this I think he is doomed.

Eh? Braveheart was a fictitious irrational prejudice propaganda piece. It's the Scottish "Birth of a Nation". Although far less well made in technical terms. Almost everything in the film is a deliberate lie, even down to the year it's set in. That's not hyperbole. In the real world, at that time Scotland was ruled by Alexander of Scotland. It was his later death (he died falling from his horse while riding hard at night along a poor quality track to visit a woman - some people advised him not to, but he was the king so all they could do was advise) that kicked off an incipient Scottish civil war (there were about a dozen claimants to the throne) and the rather odd decision to invite the king of England to decide who'd be the next king of Scotland. Which went the way anyone should have realised it would go - he chose for his own benefit and there was a Scottish civil war anyway, this time with England interfering as well. The story of William Wallace was written ~150 years later by a poet who wasn't even pretending it was historically accurate. The story states that Wallace was 7 feet tall, for example. A poet making him larger than life literally as well as figuratively. It was another ~150 years until some people paid another author to change the story to make Wallace married, which they did so they could claim that Wallace's wife was one of their ancestors. Which, obviously, required that the story state that she lived for years more and had children. It was the propagandist who wrote Braveheart who made up the story that the EVIL DEMNONS (English) killed her. Then there's Wallace having sex with Princess Isabelle and being the biological father of a child who became king of England. In reality she was a 5 year old girl at the time. And was in France. And so on and so on. Even the clothing in Braveheart is a lie. The makeup is a lie (that was the Picts, not the Scots, and was well over 1000 years earlier). Everything in the film is lies for the purpose of promoting irrational prejudice. It tells us nothing about what people did in Scotland in the late 13th century, let alone what "ancient man" did everywhere.

not sure what what boudica did, in her turn

Mass murder, with torture, mutilation, etc. Almost entirely against civilians, most of whom were British.

History is not always what it's made out to be.

Was thinking about this again, I wonder what the reaction would have been if it had been done to another man.

What is it with you. You know given the videos around it could have just been a mistake, rather than an actual conscious decision to be dishonest.

why the hell did they not arrest him/her? not suggesting they lock em up (not enough prisons) but bundle em in the back of a police van for a few hrs then slap with an ASBO (i assume they are still a thing). even if it just spoils their day its better than nowt.

Cause it’s racialist innit? Part of their culture bruv

I was referring to the braveheart gesture when they showed their backsides , as being similar to his grab, the archers from the middle ages had their (I've got my) two finger gesture too,
I was wondering what boudica's gesture might have been. ... symbols of victory/defiance

Thought this is probably more deserved of #metoo attention

The most commonly used crash test dummy has the same dimensions and mass as an average adult male from the 1970s. So, why does it matter? Surely the structure of male and female bodies is sufficiently similar to not affect the outcome of safety tests?
Women are not scaled-down men and they have different physical characteristics, such as height, weight, bone density, and muscle mass. Because cars are designed for, and tested by, models representing the "average male," the results from these tests do not accurately predict the safety risks for female occupants in a crash.
Research shows that women are 73 per cent more likely to be severely injured or die in a frontal crash than men and three times as likely to experience whiplash injuries.

is that really because of sexism tho or more do to muscle mass meaning men have more protection? i mean........ you mention the bone density and muscle mass but that is simply a matter of genetics..... its not sexist

its like me saying the advertised 0-60 times and fuel economy of a car are weightist because they do not take into account the mass of my beer belly affecting the performance of my car............... as Scottie once said

Ye cannae change the laws of physics!

New footage has come out of the Spanish ladies laughing and singing about it on the bus.

Didn't look like the aftermath of a violent attack.

Twitter translation Spanish to English

1. Why did you show off with your colleagues and pose laughing with the meme of your beak with Rubiales?
2. Why did all your companions who are now shocked yell with you at Rubiales "to kiss each other" on the bus after seeing the "beak"?
3. Why did you ask Rubiales for a kiss 'as a joke' on the bus, and laugh when Luis Rubiales said “no, I'm ashamed”?I don't want you to "tell the truth" because Spain already knows it today.I want you to go to PRISON.

One would suggest that the average man is now far larger and heavier than a 70s man and that the average woman is probably closer to that weight than men are. Men are generally physically more robust than women which probably means that whatever you do, men will probably come out of it better than women. That being said, they should be doing their best to make it as safe as possible for women regardless.

Women come with built in airbags though.
