*** Nintendo Switch ***

I think it'll be up to the developer of the game to set World of Goo's price, not Nintendo. I've not played it but heard it's great.

It's cool to see strong indie support on Switch. Wii U was fairly indie friendly too and it ended up getting a few exclusive gems as a result.

Yeah, the game itself is great and I have it on the iPad already. I'm just commenting that it's currently selling for £5 on apple's store and £3 on Google's.

Nintendo won't kill off the 3DS until the Switch is making them decent profits and I could see them waiting until they can release the Switch in a cheaper, smaller form factor, say a 5" model with no dock and possibly intergrated non removable Joy Cons.

I'm liking the sound of being able to play NES/SNES games online, don't get why they never had that option before since it's been a thing on emulators for ages now. Wonder if it will be set up like the old Wireplay/Gamespy programs, have chat at the bottom, with players listed to the side and game lobbies above, or something similar.. simple but effective.

Can't imagine it being like that, i'd think all that stuff will be in the app

I don't think it will be up to the dev. The prices on the 3DS store are higher than Vita/PSN IIRC and it's been a while since i checked the Wii U but when i ever checked there that wasn't cheap either.

Nintendo will want their cash, Android and iOS are usually just happy to take their points on a sale, i doubt nintendo will do that.

It will be friends only with no lobbies.

That's better than the previous price but I'm not sure about the pro controller. In some ways I'd rather just have a joy con with a digital Dpad in place of the analogue stick. I'm not sure I want or need a complete extra controller. Depends on how I feel about gaming on the joy cons though I guess. Can't really make a call on they until I get my hands on it.

Oddly the Pro Controller is £59.99 on the official Nintendo store whereas Amazon have it at £65...

The Joy Cons are also £5 cheaper on the official store, the Joy Con charging grip and the AC adapter are £3 less.

Hope Amazon update before launch.

No, the dev definitely sets their own price on WiiU/3DS eShop, can't see that changing with the Switch.

There will be a number of reasons why game prices differ between platforms, and I don't know what cut Nintendo takes from sales exactly.

Then they won't get my money.

Is funny how we value certain games, No Man's Sky obviously had a lot of issues on launch but had it been £15-£20 I think people would have been more forgiving (although maybe not as the hype was mental by that point).

£40 on Uncharted 4 was the biggest waste of money I've spent on a game for a long time, so boring, would have probably got a lot more enjoyment out of Bomberman for the same money.

I think it also has to do with the perception of whether one if getting ripped off or not. I am guessing it cost a hell of a lot more money to make Uncharted 4 vs Bomberman, yet they want the same amount of money. Also to do with the opportunity cost. I would still pay £40 if it was a game I really wanted to play regardless of how much it cost to make, but Bomberman is not such a game so they will not see my money until the price drops significantly to a price I am comfortable with. Plus it is Konami :p

I do actually want to play the Street Fighter II game on the Switch quite a bit, but I would feel ripped off if they wanted more than £20 for it. Would probably end up picking it up second hand for cheaper at a later date.

I love how value for money seems to be getting progressively worse as announcements go on. Zelda for £60? Bit pricey. 1|2 Switch and Arms for £40? That seems a bit of a chuckle - should be budget or bundled games. Wait, what? £40 for Bomberman? Bomberman?!? Youch.

Street Fighter II for £50 next, and a VC price increase to account for the online multiplayer (because VC games weren't expensive enough already).

Probably Amazon being cautious with their pricing after getting stung for £80/unit with console pre-orders.

Yeah we all have different criteria. If a game required little effort, such as straight forward ports of old games (Mario Sunshine, World of Goo) or quick updates of simple games (Street Fighter 2 and Bomberman), then I refuse to pay a lot for it.

Indie games are another area where I expect to pay less.
