*** Nintendo Switch ***

When I order I'll be ordering Neon but also additional joy cons in the opposite sides and colour, so I can have a full blue set and a full red set :p

Pretty sure Game had Neon stock, Nintendo's website may have them too. Went for grey myself.

Yep - Game's Phase one and two orders are now guaranteed for the 3rd now which was why I changed my Grey order over to Neon.

I think what we’re hoping for the most is the folks that saw the October video and have been most excited by the January announcement will be the first people to buy this system. And that they would buy the system not just for Zelda but for 1-2-Switch

lol.

I know quite a few people who when I mentioned the Switch had no idea about it :(

So much for Nintendo's 'amazing' marketing then...

Which is a good thing considering the battery on Switch.

What about it? It's pretty much on par with the battery life on the original model 3DS, so par for the course as Nintendo handhelds go (the later models aren't too much better at 3.5 to 6 hours). Sure it's short, but apparently not for a Nintendo handheld.

And as much as I have zero interest in buying a Switch, I'll definitely bite at £200 if GameSeek offer it again. I'll probably never open it/use it (given that there's barely any reason to what with the lack of games), but if it ever comes to that there's games, then hey, I saved a bunch on a Switch. But that's if I can manage to nab that GameSeek offer.

A big issue for me is Nintendos quality control. Having owned a number of 3DS's consoles over the years Ive had to deal with gunk under the screen, weird colour calibration, the TN/IPS lottery and the mix and match nonsense and dead pixels. All of which they claim is perfectly fine for some reason. Add to those the loose d pads, sticky sliders and build quality which has got shoddier and shoddier as the years roll on and I'm quite curious to see how the switch shores up.

This woman sums up what my problem has been quite nicely...

Hopefully the quality week be on par with the home consoles. I've never had any issues with Nintendo consoles historically so worth any luck that trend continues. To be fair most Nintendo kit is usually bombproof and every console I've bought from them still works decades later.

Yeah. A family member was recently asking me advice on a console, when I mentioned Nintendo Switch they were like

Same with other family members and friends. Lol. One friend was like "I heard about it", but actually knew nothing specifically about it. There seems to be a lack of interest. No buzz or anything compared to when the Wii came out. As back then all these said people knew about it and purchased one. Nintendo need to advertise to create desire and excitement.

The biggest marketing campaign needs to come for xmas time in my opinion. By then they will actually have a decent library of games to create such desire and excitement.

1-2 Switch will not cut it in the west. Needed to be a free game.

Nothing seems to indicate 3.5 to 6hrs for the Switch though.

The original presentation said Zelda would last around 3 hours with longer battery life on other [less demanding] games.

And to your original question yes I was referring to the red/blue console bundle as neon - was too lazy to type the full name out! :p

Not much difference from the stated time of 2.5 to 6. Apparently Zelda will be on the shorter end with almost 3 hours before you need to recharge.

+1

I've never had any issues with Nintendo home consoles. But handhelds are another story. The original model DS eventually snapped in 2 after surviving a lot (including being thrown down the stairs by a dumb kid). The DS Lite had a stuck/dead pixel and eventually the L button stopped working (no more FPS or DK Climber). My current 3DS XL seems mostly fine, except the rubber on the circle pad split a month back. I could superglue it back on, but it means no more 'action' games, since the circle pad won't be able to handle it. Buying a new 3DS just for that really isn't worth the still inflated price. Just as well the Joycons on the Switch can be removed. If one stops working, just buy a new one.

Add to those the loose d pads, sticky sliders and build quality which has got shoddier and shoddier as the years roll on

No wonder they're selling new iterations of handhelds. They save money using cheaper materials and price it higher cos its 'the new version'. I remember the screen fiasco with 'new' 3DS models. They started with IPS screens on the initial release and then switched to TN, without ever saying a thing about it. Fingers crossed they don't pull similar BS with the Switch.

2 things:

1. I hate the new look and feel of the forums
2: Haven't seen this posted yet but theres been some more info released on the console on neogaf. It's worth a look as theres a fair amount of information on there, some is new and some is already common knowledge

Forums we will all get used to. Rome wasn't built in a day. The forum needs a lot of tweaking to get it right but it will get there. XenForo wasn't my choice but I don't pay for this free resource either so I will lump it and adapt :p

Also, we finally have confirmation of specs if this is true.
