*** Nintendo Switch ***

I swear some people actually WANT this to fail, because somehow that would make them.....happy??

The **** is wrong with these negative people? You don't want to buy it - fine, don't - but to go out of your way to just make **** up and troll - isn't there better things to be doing with your valuable time on planet earth?

How can people say its underpowered when they literally have zero experience in how it runs/plays?

So they have confirmed what kind of GPU it has. How do they know it doesn't have a 2nd one tucked in the dock for a spec bump for example?

Nobody knows. It's funny to see people create these woes and complaints out of thin air then say it to the world :p

So is this thing a replacement for both the 3DS and the Wii U?

Looks promising either way. Battery life and power are the concerns though. It is running a modified Tegra chip, so can we assume power similar to the Nvidia Shield?

I'm glad the trailer didn't have a focus on kids, it means that we perhaps might get a decent online system for once.

Isn't it pretty much confirmed to be Tegra X2? So that's nowhere near X1 / PS4 level performance, let alone Pro / Scorpio.

Isn't it obvious that this would never have the same performance though? That obviously wasn't one of their goals in its design. Do you really want a third company chasing numbers? Or one that's willing to try something different?

Right now we seem to be going 3 ways, MS want to turn the xbox into a PC with ALL THE TERRAFLOPS, Sony are going the VR route and Nintendo are taking the game anywhere route. I think its great! Imagine we just had 3 of them trying to show us the prettiest pictures with the most FPS and that's it. That sounds awful... Just get a PC if you want that.

I assumed there was some kind of scaler in the docking station, so maybe that will help. Not really fussed about the graphics, they look good enough to me.

Exaclty, Nintendo are happy to just sit and do their own thing. And it works, it has done for years. Look at the 3DS sales.

Still unsure if this is also a 3DS replacement?

couldn't agree more, your post is spot on

A 3DS is £150. We'll be lucky if this thing is less than £250 for sure.

The price will be interesting. Nintendo need to decide what is an acceptable profit/loss compared to the number of boxes they want to get out there. At the end of the day you want to appeal to publishers with your x amount of consoles user base. Otherwise publishers will be less inclined to create stuff for it. **Edit** Especially if they have to write it in such a way to turn the graphics down a bit because of the lower spec hardware.

But Nintendo had enough money to support it. It still doesn't stop them doing their own thing and bringing their games to their followers, the people who want and crave 1st party games.

They could've just done a Sony/MS and probably sold bucket loads. Who really wants that?

they always tend to create consoles which will stand up on their own, e.g. with profit built into each unit, so I think they'll be over £200. I'm just hoping not as they did manage it with the Wii

Yes we all know the strategy Nintendo is following.

Make cheap under powered hardware, include a gimmick and sell it at an inflated price point then rely on sales of Mario #463, Mario Kart #476 and Zelda #479 to keep the cash rolling in.

It didn't work with the WiiU and it won't work with this.

So what would you have them do then?

I wish I had one of these at school and uni! Nintendo could be onto a winner. Not sure whether it will win a place under my tv as I have zero commute, few Nintendo playing friends, and don't go on holiday more than a few weeks a year. To be worth a buy it will have to stand up well as a traditional console. A no brainer if you have kids.

Looks better than I thought and it will just take an epic Mario game (more Mario 64 than 3D World) to sway the balance :)
