*** Nintendo Switch ***

Time to sell the Wii u I guess.
Does this have backwrds compat? Digital games of course.
Very little chance it has backwards compatibility.

I kinda want one. I dont necessarily get truly portable with my handheld devices, but I do like to play them in bed or on the couch while others are watching something on TV. This would be a cool way to do that.

And as things will essentially combine the efforts of Nintendo's console and mobile teams, it should mean a whole lot more content. And should also be more attractive for 3rd party developers who essentially get to create a console and a handheld version of their game without any extra work.

Dont want to pay more than $300, though. At Day 1, I'd buy it. Otherwise I'll wait til it drops in price.

Count me in on this. haven't been quite excited for a console since the Gamecube. PS3 was a necessity for GTA5 and Last of us only, so that itch was scratched :p

Just a thought, perhaps the 32GB is on the tablet while the dock section has say a 500GB drive in it and you just move titles from one to the other? As a high capacity drive to fit in the tablet would have to be an M.2 or something which would be really expensive.

What do you need the storage for?

XBO and PS4 need to install games locally due to the sheer amount of data on the disc it had to access quickly.

This is cartridge based. Access will be a hell of a lot quicker. I doubt there is a need to locally install :)

Yeh I doubted it would. Gonna go trade in the Wii U on Sat. I can get £120 after paying about £150 for it. That will go towards my PS4 Pro and I'll grab the switch at some point for that Nintendo goodness.

I'm the same, Inplay my Vita mostly in bed but so useful when I travel for work.

How many controller variations? Not super excited after watching the (quite boring I thought) video.

Nintendo have always had many controller variations. You simply use whatever takes your fancy for the setting. Big controllers at home, portable ones on the go. Easy.

I find it fascinating that I grew up playing on Nintendo, and over 20 years later, am excited about their latest offering. Sega have come an gone, MS and Sony are relatively new by comparison.

6.2" ipS screen? Looks waaaaay bigger than that in the video.
Yea, maybe:

Actually, with the bezel included, that might be about right.

USB ports may accept external storage. Who knows what they're going to offer!

It's all very exciting!

But you wouldn't need external storage if the dock its going into has a drive in it, store downloaded games locally on the dock, copy over what downloaded games you want to take on the move with you :)

Either way, hopefully we get more info soon, now that its no longer under wraps I expect to see plenty of legit leaks as such :D

I just hope nintendo don't balls up the online side of things again. I don't want downloads tied to a console I want them tied to a user ID. And if said games are available on other platforms (e.g. 3DS) that should be tied into the same purchase. Also loosing the user ID codes etc... what a pain that is :D

Above all else I hope they port mario maker over. I was going to buy it for the 3DS, but I think I'll wait now :D
