*** Nintendo Switch ***

Some muppet was making stupid posts earlier in the thread about how playing the Switch in public made you a paedophile and that you should spend your time on planes more productively.
:D made me lol in the office. I am getting some work done on my car Friday, can't think of a better way to spend the time waiting than on Zelda, it'll be coming with me!

That stand you pointed out is really good for planes and trains, I expected it to be loads more money too, good spot

I'm a weirdo and enjoy game carts, is it essential for me to get an SD card? If so, is 32GB enough?
For the time being I would imagine so. I like game carts and will always purchase physical where possible.

However, games like FAST Rmx are e-shop only. And that's a 1gb game!

I'm tempted to buy the joy con bundle with snipperclips despite not owning the console, because it's such a good deal.

Do you just get a download code for the eshop in the bundle?

I've gone for the Orzly protectors and pre-ordered MK8.

Also - where are all the doomsayers today? I need my daily dose of negativity!
tbh I actually read earlier something I was a bit sad about, but not too bad. It's about the complete no-go on moving around save games. At this moment in time I don't have a use case to do it, but it sounds like once you're in that situation where you eed to, it'd become a serious pain.

Yeah the save data issue is probably the biggest issue for me, this shouldn't be a massively difficult thing for Nintendo to solve, Wii U and 3DS both had this functionality.

Pretty crazy that this is not standard off the bat. Not too much of an issue for me as I don't tend to return to old saves and if I half complete a game and go back to it later, I'll start from the beginning. But yeah, it should be there and you should be able to transfer to other devices from memory cards, at least.

Having played Zelda on the big screen it definitely does run worse than in portable mode, especially when in grass or when it rains. Still it's not unplayable at all and I got over it very quickly to the point where it doesn't bug me at all.

Zelda is so, so good. I have forgiven them for Skyward Sword, which retrospectively seems like a complete joke.

This is so dumb of NIntendo, if you're getting 30fps in handheld and drops to 20fps on docked, they should have just made it the same res, pure tv output, and kept the 30fps in docked mode. A hybrid console that has the extra costs of hybrid... that runs worse in it's supposed higher power mode because you up the resolution and make the experience worse.... who the hell thought that one up.

I still prefer playing in Docked mode on my 65" OLED than in portable mode :)

I actually came here to mention that Digital Foundry tested the 720p docked mode, and found it was still internally rendering at 900p and then downsampling to 720p so it doesn't help with the frame rate.

I said before, in the long run for games built from the ground up on Switch I don't think it'll be a big problem. Mario Odyssey is supposed to run 1080p/60fps locked.

Zelda was developed for years and years as a Wii U game and only recently ported over to Switch, hence the framerate issues.

It's still an amazing game.

Has anyone moaning about the frame rate actually played the game?

It slows down ever so slightly occasionally. It barely detracts from the game. I didn't see all this fuss about Fallout 4 on PS4.

Witcher 3 on X1 ran worse than Zelda as well and it wasn't particularly attacked on here.
