*** Nintendo Switch ***

I haven't bought it, as I managed to convince myself to just buy it when I'll actually start playing it as it's not on offer.

I would genuinely be happy to have paid £40 for hollow knight. There is more free DLC to come later this year as well. £11 is a ridiculous price!

On an unrelated note, the new Mario & Rabbids DLC is available to download today if you have the season pass. Otherwise its tomorrow.

Are you playing Paladins solo or with friends? I read the DF article this weekend and it looks like they've done an amazing job on the port. Should I wait for the free version or is it worth the money for the Founders pack?

It's a very good port, but there are a few minor bugs with the menus and occasional crashing so I'd suggest waiting for at least a patch.

It's a lot more open than Overwatch with many more viable strategies and possibilities to tweak your playstyle.

I'm playing solo.

OK thanks. I'll hold off and give the free version a go when it lands.

Playing the Donkey Kong DLC for Mario Rabbids and a bit disappointed, some thoughts so far after about 4 hours.

- It's got the same level of polish and charm as the original game
- DK's abilities are great fun initially but wear thin when most levels rely so strongly on him
- Cranky has one new rather dull ability but otherwise is just a rehash of existing characters
- You can't use your original team members other than Rabbid Peach (who you have to use)
- It is very easy, not lost a single character and come in well under the turn limit.
- Environmental puzzles are the same as before and only reward models/soundtracks in 90% of cases
- No new enemies other than reskins

I absolutely loved the original, top 5 Switch game for sure so I'm still having reasonable fun but I really hope for some more new content and that it gets tougher. It's a shame the DLC wasn't aimed at end-game content, you only need to complete world 1 to unlock it which gives an idea of where the difficulty is pitched.

Character progression, coins, orbs, unlocks, etc don't carry over from the main game, it's totally self-contained (even has it's own separate set of save files). As far as I can see you do need the original game to play the DLC (I saw someone mention earlier in this thread that they thought it was standalone).

Yeah a few sources reported DK Rabbids Expansion would be available standalone, including Polygon here, and I could have sworn a Ubisoft representative mentioned it in an interview too.

It seems that might not be the true afterall though?. I may not have sold the game if i'd known but im not really desperate to play it, no shortage of good games around and I still haven't started Hollow Knight.

Seriously tempted by a Switch. It looks like I can get one with Xenoblade 2 for £290 (or Splatoon 2 for the same price). If I've a budget of £350, what else would you get?

A pro controller if you intend to use it on a TV. Or just get Zelda for £40 ish new and a couple of indies (Celeste, Hollow Knight etc). Edit - or a more comprehensive list like the one above!

I am seriously thinking of buying a 2nd. So I fix the wifi issue and my wife is addicted to Stardew Valley :p

I have thought about it. I was hoping for some kind of revision to be announced but it is pretty early for that. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

Yes and I love it but can't play it for long periods due to extreme stress levels! I'm not usually into rhythm games but this is a good one. Play with headphones.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I've played Zelda through on the Wii U (although I loved it and would probably buy it again on the Switch eventually).

Thanks for the list, Kreee - fantastically helpful.

Would you say that a Switch is worthwhile if I've already got a PC, on which I can play a lot of the indie titles for less money?

For first party stuff I'd say it is a perfect accompaniment to a PC. Don't underestimate the power of being able to play in handheld - even if you don't think you will, you almost certainly will. It has totally changed the way that I consume and play games and I have double dipped for Skyrim and DOOM because of it, even though I already played them to death.

If not Zelda then Mario Odyssey is also great. Mario Kart and DK (though you may have played these, too?), Splatoon 2, all great.
