*** Nintendo Switch ***

The steam deck (and many of its clones) should be the basis for a switch 2. Hopefully they use the specs of these devices as a starting point and not years old hardware like they did with the switch!

Not going to happen. Nintendo need to get the power/battery life right in order to sell to the masses. These other handheld devices can just knock whatever components they want together and call it a day with little regard to how to actual run games for 4+ hours consistently.

Agreed they will balance performance vs battery life. They will do their own thing their audience is massive and always will be. Doesn’t have to be this or that. Steamdeck is niche compared to a beast like the Switch. 4k not happening imho and it doesn’t need it.

On the years old hardware side, I'm worried that's a possibility at this point. The Switch has been holding on well towards the end of its lifespan so they've likely had the hardware nailed down for a while...

On the upside they'll hopefully have had time really get to understand the hardware and do their magic for first party games to look and run great from the start. Time will tell I suppose.

First party stuff always looks amazing. Tears of the kingdom tested the hardware to the max but it was still a beautiful game. I just hope we get a switch 2 that is an evolution of the first and not something gimmicky. Pretty sure with 145m switches out there they know they’ve nailed it. Just do that again but with better hardware.

Apologies for a potentially daft question. If looking between the Switch and Oled version. Which would be better for outside use in sunlight?

Just about managed to play through the first 20 hours of tears of the Kingdom, in the Spanish sun, on an OLED version. It's marginally brighter than the normal version - so it would be my pick

Awesome. Cheers guys.

Still not 100% decided. My ideal solution is a Series X, with a Backbone and then an Android Phone which my wife uses as a handheld console, but still trying to consider all options.

I imagine the hardware is going to be quite underwhelming. Hasn't held the Switch back massively from Nintendos point of view with the first Switch though. Nintendos strength has always been its first party IPs and the Switch is the console that kicked off the horrible trend of everything from the past 30 years being remastered so again, power isn't really a worry there.

I really don't think it was the Switch that started the remastering thing at all.

I'm personally not bothered if the next console isn't cutting edge or the most powerful hardware. That's not why I enjoy Nintendo systems and games.

Anyone else grabbing the Castlevania Dominus Collection?, just giving a heads up in case it passed anyone by, it's the long awaited DS collection of Castlevania games which were some of the best in the series.

Gonna order the physical release from limited run games as it’s supposed to be on sale today!
