Do you really need +100mV to get 2050 stable? I can hit 2089 or something stable on stock voltage on my FE without any voltage adjustments. But it does throttle abit for power target reasons so i leave it at 2050.

That was pretty much the first game I tried with the GPU, definitely a case of rose-tinted glasses for me too. It does improve when you get to the city - and the effects in battle are top notch (like the dust that flies in the wind from gunshots hitting things) - but on the whole it's a product of its time.

A game that does look extraordinary at 4k is Resident Evil 7, I bought that yesterday and it looks incredible. That and Battlefield 1 are the best showcases for 4k60 that I've seen so far.

I had never completed it and my memory of it being so bold, crisp and twinkly. Crysis is another I'll have to revisit. Real shame it cannot be put into Origin so you don't have to dig out the DVD drive as done with Crysis 2. I'll need to purchase Crysis 3.

Pretty sure I web chatted and gave them my cd key a few years ago to get it added to origin - couldn't get it to work though. Got a feeling was 32 version.

So this card has made 4k pretty much 100% possible right?

That is the whole point of its existence, so yes :) I play all my games in 4k60 with it, which was literally impossible before. You cannot do 4k gaming with any less powerful GPUs, including the standard GTX 1080, unless you turn down the graphics settings significantly. If you want to play games like Battlefield 1 and The Witcher 3 at 4k60, you need the 1080Ti. You get what you pay for.

I was trying to make gpu boost happy but it seems I can achieve the same by upping the core. Mine isn't 100% stable at 2075 or above regardless of settings.

0% power +75 clock = 2037 - Stable
0% power +85 clock = 2100(?!) crash
25% power +75 clock = 2050 stable
50% power +75 clock = 2062 Stable
50% power +85 clock = 2088 dropping to 2075 crash
75% power +75 clock = 2075 dropping to 2062 stable
75% power +85 clock = 2088 crash
100% power +80 clock = 2100 dropping to 2088 crash
100% power +70 clock = 2075 semi stable

At least there is the Crysis Trilogy for £24.99 on Origin. Its a super deluxe edition. I'll get that instead.
I also remember you had to add a line to the autoexec to enable 64bit? Or was that the exe command line?

"The Crysis Trilogy includes - Crysis, Crysis: Warhead, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Crysis 3 Digital Deluxe Edition and Crysis 3: The Lost Island."

I cannot be bothered faffing about digging out DVD drives.

EVGA 1080Ti SC Black Edition GAMING ICX for £690

Zotac 1080Ti AMP Extreme Core Spectre RGB for £710

Those two are the best around £700 right? I was leaning towards the Gigabyte Aorus but after watching that review regarding it's build quality & coil whine that put me off.

Zotac always seems to get positive reviews and I like the 5 year warranty. I know EVGA have excellent customer service and build quality though.

Which one would you guys choose?

is it worth having 2 1080 Ti's or am i just over killing it

To 99% of people it's overkill. The £/performance ratio is too much. SLI is almost never supported properly for the latest and most popular games. It's really only for the extremely wealthy.

A single 1080Ti does 4k60 for 99% of modern games (the remaining 1% being unoptimized nvidia-only gimmicks, like ultra hairworks in Witcher 3, or HBAO+ in RE7)

will one do for a x34a

The x34a is 60hz at 3440x1440, which is under 4k so a single 1080Ti is perfect for it. Can probably even hit 100fps should you overclock the refresh rate to 100, since it's only 5m~ pixels compared to 4k's 8.3m.

If you're getting one I will be very envious.
