**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

To 99% of people it's overkill. The £/performance ratio is too much. SLI is almost never supported properly for the latest and most popular games. It's really only for the extremely wealthy.

A single 1080Ti does 4k60 for 99% of modern games (the remaining 1% being unoptimized nvidia-only gimmicks, like ultra hairworks in Witcher 3, or HBAO+ in RE7)

Its nice not having to mess and tweak with dual cards nowadays. It was always a pain with CrossFire when new games came out or obscure small games.

Fantastic when it worked though. Battlefield 3 and 4 on 64 player servers. So smooth.

Absolutely this. Having had dual card solutions pretty much since it became possible I must say I can't see myself going back. Too much fuss and not needed for me with such a powerful single card solution.

I remember when Crysys 2 came out, it took AMD I think 4 weeks to sort the performance issues. It still ran good mind but ran a lot better once they eventually sorted the issues. Then tessellation came in. It became a slideshow with the NVIDIA versus AMD tessellation performance issues. Remember that?

I think you had to run 12 or 6x tessellation to get good framerate on Crysis 2 under AMD back then. It was really bad in some level with lots of rubble and the aliens. Some area you had to climb up and down some hilly areas...

When the game came out I bought two 6950s flashed to 6970 to run the game in crossfire and it still had a lot of stuttering and hitching issues. When it wasn't hitching it did run really well (Battlefield 3 was fantastic), but for a time AMD driver support wasn't the greatest.

Haven't used AMD ever since. I certainly won't do SLI/Crossfire ever again either. From what I've researched, neither vendor ever managed to get natural 100% support across all games as standard, nor did they ever manage to pool both cards' memory into one.

Hey folks, so its been awhile since I peeked into this thread...

Looking to replace my existing 980Ti... was waiting for the FE's to come out which looks like they have...

Soft spot for Inno3Ds.. but damn how many versions?

Can anyone offer any advice as to what I should be looking for £/performance?

(honestly speaking I'm not looking to overclock beyond whatever it says on the label).

Then I have that as above as I had put my disc key into Origin and downloaded it. Thought it was awfully small for over 9GB. Even Doom on the PS4 is 74GB and looks a lot better than Crysis 2 on the PC. :/

The lighting is so gorgeous in Doom compared to Crysis 2, saying that I'm not far into the game on Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 came out in 2011, Doom came out in 2016, Try the MaldoHD V4 mod for Crysis 2, Makes the game look amazing.

Your video? I've just been trying it out for the last 30 minutes. I don't know if I like it or not. Sure it is extremely pretty but it feels too sharp? As if someone was over-sharpening in Photoshop. It doesn't feel nice and DSLR smooth sharp.

Peeking around walls still looks so ugly and blurry.

Yep, Made it literally just to show you incase you hadn't downloaded it yet :D

I could have sworn the bricks/ground and all the things that protrude looked chunky when I played with this mod... Are you sure it disables tessellation?

Are you also using cinema DOF?

Is Blackfire 2 related to the saturation? Yours looks awfully vibrant compared to mine.

Yep, Using cinema DOF and I think BF2 does increase vibrancy.

On the fence about getting one of these again now, had my Zotac Amp for about a week and had to RMA it, now i'm eyeballing the cards and feeling super indecisive.
