Plenty of bandwidth on a Pascal Titan already unless you want to go higher than 8k.
Pascal only loves memory bandwidth if you are using a 256bit bus.

I bought the Gigabyte D3 on the £529.99 deal as I thought the lowest it could fall is to around £450. I could handle a £80 "loss", especially with the free game. If the 1080ti launched at around £600 then I'd happily sell my 1080 if I was getting at least 20% performance increase.
However, now I'm seeing EVGA release 1080 models priced between £650 - £700 and Gigabyte release the Aorus 1080 at over £700, and now a £450 priced 1080 model is starting to look very unlikely. The 1080ti must surely be aiming for the £800+ mark? These two companies will be producing the 1080ti now so it doesn't make sense to price those newly launched 1080 models so close to £700 unless the card releasing in March is at least £100 more.

if the 1080ti is close to titan speed it will be close to titan price, doubt NVidia will release a card like the 1080ti for less than £800+ and vega is still a few months away yet.

Why? 980Ti was on par with the Titan X? the whole idea is to release the super high end Titan then release a card that comes close to it at a cheaper but still inflated price like last time and everyone goes "wow this card matches a Titan1" and it sells like hot cakes? the 1080Ti will be a high end card that nvidia will want to sell at high volume like the 980Ti, what is the point in pricing it at Titan prices? That's hardly going to compete with vega at that price point is it.

I think Nvidia slipped up last time with the old titan and the 980ti, this time round it will be 1080 then 1080ti and the titan will remain top dog and sold direct by NVidia. if they release the 1080ti and it beats the titan, they will never sell another titan and volta is quite some time away yet. they have seen vega, spies and all that and know its close to 1080 speed, the 1080ti gives that extra margin of grunt, and will sit in the middle or close to titan XP. if volta was released in the next few months they might let the 1080ti beat a titan, but not this time round.

If you believe that to be the case then what does that make the 1080 once the Ti is released, a mid range GPU at a high end price? It just seems to complicate things imo, I really could stomach a 1080 at current prices with a Ti out.

well it would be right, a 1080 at £550+ a 1080ti at £800+ and titan XP at £1200 and vega will be £500+ to hold up AMD price for there top tier GFX card, if vega comes in between the 1080 and 1080ti it will be £600+ even

Exactly AMD did it. Not nVidia while it's slightly different that the 290 to 390 was a refresh. It still took around a year not under. People seem to think nVidia will do a refresh in under a year.
Yeah, and they are doing it with their Polaris cards now, and they haven't even been out that long.
And Loadsa its not the same as Vega its a different arch to Polaris.

GP104/GP102 continue to scale well when the memory bandwidth is increased. It would completely outperform GDDR5X if it had HBM2.
Proof? Overclock any Pascal card's memory. The performance increases, and scales very, very well. Even overclocking the memory on TitanXP, with it's 384bit bus and 480GB/Sec bandwidth gets a nice performance increase from overclocking it's memory (which increases memory bandwidth).
HBM2 = much more bandwidth, which would massively increase the performance. Go and have a little think why G100 has HBM2, and not GDDR5X. Hint, it increases performance

GFX cards in the future for high end will always be over £600 the 1080's still go for over £600+ some £700 even, a 1080ti will be £800+ the only way it will change is if AMD vega top card is SUB £500 and beats the 1080ti and AMD would be stupid to do that, in the past when AMD cards were on par or close they were also over £500 and people moaned about them being over priced. AMD will reap all the profit it can from vega to put into future GFX cards. and yes we will moan, and cry wolf but in the end we will also buy them. its a big role of the dice for AMD with ryzen and vega, they will not be cheap and given away. expect top prices for both.
