NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

it wasn't the cheapest but the cheapest oversold from over fifty to minus thirty units in two minutes, faster than our site can respond. Bots! what do you want us to do? we can't sit on the stock forever, we can't exactly sell them all over the phone and we can't do forum drops on so many different lines, that would take days to set up.

Rock, meet Hard Place! I'm more sick of this situation than you, I guarantee it!

What happened to any of the new forum deals that were meant to take place "next week" (Repeated over the last few weeks)?

What is the general consensus - was there actually any drop of 3070ti FE or was it a tiny number immediately snapped up?

FE drops are completely unknown.
People here suspect it to be single digits across most of the biggest retailers. Some have said they sold out in under a minute or two. OcUK chose not to drop at all because of bots (though they had no FE of course).

Sad time indeed, I hope that mining will crash big time eventually and that things will get back to normal.

Normal as in being ripped off by overpriced GPUs, but at least they are in stock. Like the 20 series?

We are all being brainwashed into thinking these MSRPs are great prices, but even at those prices these cards cost way more than they should. If you said to me a few years back that I would even consider paying over £400 for a mid-range gpu I would have said you were crazy.

+1

How much was it??
£549
yes I know, you'll probably rage at that too but the point still stands. Even at these prices we're cleared out. These sales are bot driven, we can't sell at low margin because we end up with even bigger big back order queues and with the price increases we risk losing money on them. Simple fact is, for months now, we've lost money on pretty much every 3080 we ship. So dumping less desirable stocks like this help us to fund that and prevent us from having to cancel everyone's back order.

The prices are still less than ebay and we offer protection. But I understand the frustration.

It's one thing to offer those in 3080 queues a route out via 3070Ti, which we hope to be able to do, but 3060? nobody will go for that and, sadly, this is where most of the supply has been recently. So this is our best option.

Every time we put an Nvidia card online this sort of thing happens and we end up having to deal with yet more back order queues.

Yeah it sucks that the market is like this right now but it is what it is. Hope you enjoy your new GPU! :D
Yep exactly, if you'd told me a few years back that I'd pay this much for a GPU I'd have laughed at you, but the current market has changed a lot of us.

Cheers pal, I just hope the new GPU isn't DOA!

Gibbo and I are not in full control of this. We've made no secret of the fact that these are complicated to set up and the person who did the last drops is no longer with the company. Between, people covering his other work and holidays we haven't been able to find somebody to take over that yet.

It's totally understandable given the situation you're in, don't worry about it. There's barely anything you can do, either. Bots are such a pain.
Is there a potential for a 3070ti queue? I was really hoping to get my hands on a 3070/ti myself

That's fair enough.
But it's been almost 3 months since the last one on the MM.

That's a lot of "Next weeks"

Well, I'll offer my congratulations in advance to those hearty souls that stuck with it and managed to grab an FE card when they dropped them at 02.37am tomorrow morning. :p

Well there’s your mistake. You haven’t chained people to their desks! Amateur

I'm on a 970 (fleabay stopgap after my 290x failed), and the 30xx series was my big upgrade for the next few years.

It's getting really tiresome now. By the time prices stabilise it might be worth waiting for the 40xx.
i'm stuck on a 970 too, tried every gen since to get a new card, it's like fishing in a puddle.

I am not blaming you guys when the distributors are also doing what they did last time, and taking a nice cut,AMD/Nvidia also taking a nice cut, etc. At least you did a few forum drops at a lower price which is better than most of the other retailers.

It hasn't been like that. There was the attempt to make a new forum section with lighter access requirements, that has so far failed and that was most of the "3 months". It was only the 3080 Ti launch when we said 'hopefully next week' but as of, I think, yesterday, Gibbo has had to concede that it could be a few weeks, even a month, before we are ready to try again.

We're pretty set that the next attempt to get cards into the hands of gamers will be focused on those who are already in our back order queues. Seems the fairest thing to do.

Agreed can't argue with that, better to do something than nothing at all. (can name a few retailers who should be ashamed!)
