**OcUK Secret Santa 2011 - The unWrapUp!**

You should still be covered for lost items with standard parcels. Did you get proof of postage?

Send parcels up to 1.5m long and up to 20kg*.
Free certificate of posting from your Post Office®.
Up to £46 compensation cover included in the postage price.

Shayper, have another look for your receipts, if you can find them you can claim for lost parcels which will recoup some of your losses.

Hold off for the next week and if the parcel hasn't arrived then by all means send another. Just a shame you couldn't afford the recorded at the time, as it would have saved you a lot of hassle.

Hope everything gets sorted though :)

Can you afford to send this other gift by Recorded delivery then? It's an extra 77p on top of your usual postage.

Yes, my loan has now come through :)

I have the gift here in front of me, it's a handmade unique piece of jewellery, I hope she enjoys this :)

Yeah, I'll have another look when I get back to uni tomorrow.

All of the presents are similar, handmade jewellery worth about 20 quid a piece :)

He's lost the receipt.

I think Shayper is confused the level of service Royal Mail offered.

Standard firsts class post, ask for receipt and you can claim should parcel is lost, I think the value is around £32?

First class recorded, you get a signature on the other end, cost £0.75 extra for that red sticker and the claim value is same as first class post. In reality it get there no faster but you get that signature. The thread required this.

Royal mail special delivery, before 1pm. This is the expensive one and guarantee next day delivery, insured value £500+

Royal mail special delivery before 9am, same as above but guaranteed before 9am, cost even more.

I don't think there is a service call "tracked"? Unless its new?

This is the bit I find hardest to believe, you could not afford the 79p or something but could afford to get wasted every weekend.

P.s. thought you said you sent it? Or do you have another "unique" piece of jewellery?

If you forgot/didn't send anything just say and then send a gift.

I have no reason to lie? I don't want to be banned from these forums, they are a wealth of information and I have made a fair few contributions.

I don't get wasted every weekend. I can't afford to do that, I've only been able to afford to get to work each day over the Christmas period.

All these pieces are unique. Necklaces, bracelets and earrings, however I have been sending necklaces. Made by someone important to me, and they are beautiful pieces :)

IMO she could charge a lot more than the 20 quid per piece.

Fair enough but if you can look at it from our side of the fence you can understand Why everyone is getting a little bid miffed since its now the 8th Jan

I see :)

If I were in your shoes mate, I would hand delivery the parcel to make sure it gets there. Recorded delivery is not anymore reliable than standard first class so image if your parcel get lost the 3rd time!!!

I would send it via Special Delivery to make sure it gets there personally.

It is a bit shonky Shayper, sort it out! I'm sure you will.

Don't worry man, she will have her gift by the end of the week. I'm posting it tomorrow so hopefully Tuesday.

Yes, I understand :) don't worry, it will be sorted.

So Shayper is being totally let off the hook because he has promised to buy a new present? Poor form to be honest and who wouldn't keep the receipts when they knew full well that the receipts might be needed in case anything went wrong?

Next year I'll make up a load of crap and then send a present out in January, hey it's okay as long as I send something eventually, right?

So.... If you're going to send the present tomorrow...
If Karen doesn't receive this by COB Friday 14th Jan, immediate ban?

That's fair enough.

I see :)

How would I get there to hand deliver it?

If I can I'll get it sent special delivery, if not it will be recorded.

As I said, I'm not lying. And I have no reason to lie.

And this exact reason makes me not want to sign up next year. Haven't been in a position to sign up before due to lack of funds but was looking to next year.

Doomed to failed :(
