*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

The thing to remember is that there are bigger AAA native games incoming for Quest 2, starting with RE4. It's likely that game sizes will get significantly bigger.
Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners was the first game to be really big - over 11gb.

Plus you don't have the full 64gb for storage - 54gb is available for apps, and that reduces even more if you enable app sharing.

If you are just going to use it for PC VR, then that's fine, but it does look like more AAA games will be released on the Quest 2 than PC VR unfortunately, simply because there are far more headsets out there, and the cost for entry is so much lower (£300 vs a £1000+ PC).

. We wish we had the 256gb one now. Might get one anyway and keep the 64 as a spare.

Personally I'm happy with my 64gb quest but my games library is pretty small and I'll maybe sell it once PSVR 2 is out. They go for good money second hand so, even if you want a larger model, you'll easily get ~£175-200 if you take your old headset to cex, eBay it, etc.

That new sniper elite game looks good! Will probably check out some reviews/comparisons later today.

Keen to see what the new Sam and Max game is like as well. Brings break memories of playing "Sam and Max hit the road" adventure game on my first 486 PC back in the 90s!

Those who use virtual desktop a lot, when I remove the headset with a game running, how on earth do I get back into the game without having to exit and restart Steam VR? When I put the headset back on it's dropped me back to my desktop. When I "open VR" from VD, I can see my game as a "shadow" in the background but I'm just sat in the Steam VR lobby?

The latest Steam VR update should fix that.

As far as I know I'm running all the latest versions and it happened about 10minutes ago!

From memory, click the Oculus button on the left controller then from the options showing bottom left, select VR to return to the game that is running.

I seem to recall having less issues by going into pass through mode before removing the headset.

The lenses are much more scratch resistance then on my dk2, The DK2 lenses got scratched almost straight away and that was just from cleaning. I have had the Q2 for about 2months now and the lenses has been cleaned quite a few times during this time,, and they havent a mark on them. I have taken pics of the lenses, as a camera picks up marks/scratches that the human eye cant see.

I tried some protective films on the lense a few weeks ago, but the camera picked up scratches and marks on the lenses, plus I could see the marks if I looked hard with the headset on. But Im trying again as Ive ordered some more, so hopefully these will go on better

What is the Quest 2 like for people with high IPD(mine is 68.5) i've read that on setting 3 the edges of the screen are visible but how bad is it?
I have no idea what mine is,, so I have it on number 2 and if things get blurry even looking a little away from the centre but its not bad, just all the way to the edges.

Bit late to the party but managed to buy a Q2 on offer for some on the go fitness games. Wondered what's the best way to handle foggy/steamy lenses? I don't have the problem with my Index as i have a usb fan connected to it.

Different facial interface is one thing to help a bit, as often they have better airflow. Though if held on tight, it doesn't seem to work (mine doesn't help much). Letting the device warm up a bit is another, it's just because the lenses aren't warm yet.

Wear a bandana, thin sweat band, or thin beanie to absorb sweat and keep it off the headset. I use a spandex runner's beanie, coupled with a PU VR cover and haven't had any steaming up issues. But absolutely you need to keep sweat out of the headset when exercising, as it can ruin the lenses, screens or electronics. Never put the headset on it's front after exercising to avoid sweat dripping down into the lenses.
