*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

It might be worth running DDU and removing all the AMD GPU drivers and all the Nvidia GPU drivers from your system. And reinstalling the latest drivers for your 3070.
Good shout, I did use it (GPU only) for the switch but might try again.
If you did it already for GPU only, it might be worth removing all the AMD drivers from your computer, chipset and GPU. They are closely linked and might be something not uninstalling itself properly. Install the latest chipset drivers restart, then install the drivers for the 3070.

(I am presuming you have an AMD CPU)

EDIT: Might be worth checking out the bios on your motherboard too.
Yeah, a 3700X. I'll do a proper driver reset.

Might have spoken too soon, VD runs well but there seems to be some stuttering here and there.
I had this same problem before where everything felt weird and sluggish on both and turned out I had left my Nvidea control panel FPS limiter on 60fps....doh! Not saying that happened to you but I'm sure it's happened to others

Thanks, I'll check though remember seeing FPS at 90 on the VD stats counter.

Edit - interest process. The AMD chipset drivers wouldn't uninstall, so had to reinstall and then uninstall lol. I also noted DDU allowing me to select AMD as an uninstall option even though everything should have been removed. And then finally - when I reinstalled the chipset drivers, it completed but then went back to the screen where you select what features you want, as if I hadn't just gone through it. Clicked the box and it jumped straight to a forced restart. Just about to fire up Air Link and VD.

Edit - nope Air Link is still completely borked. It's baked in right, so no way of uninstalling within the Q2?

Edit - same thing with VD. It runs fine but noticeable jitter e.g. the animations for the holographic puzzles, quick motion of your head side to side (the edge of the frame), some walking. And Arizona Sunshine doesn't seem to work any more - just doesn't load. Also when going into the Steam waiting room to launch a game, it quickly flickers with a black screen for a second or two before settling down.

That's all very strange......yeah don't think you can uninstall specifically air link :/
Not had an AMD GPU for a while so not sure if they are more prone to strange problems lime this than Nvidea?

Maybe there's an issue with the Q2 after the last update. Perhaps a factory reset of the headset may give you the latest software and bug fixes? Unless it's a wifi issue.

Yeah leaning this way, now that I can easily backup my custom songs in BS - it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Desperate to get back on Alyx, it's so much fun.

Just backup all your apps using sidequest. Then you can factory reset and restore the apps exactly as you had them.

As an aside. What happens is you try playing PCVR using a link cable?

Factory reset - still doing the same thing in Air Link :(. With my paracletic drunk mode, I managed to set the bitrate to something small (10-20) and it didn't change anything. I did notice this weird droney whiny noise when in Air Link. Going to try VD again and cabled.

The only thing that's changed is my GFX card so wondering if it's a setting/issue on the PC end.

Edit - works fine with a cable.

Edit - fiddled with some settings, Oculus app wanted it to be set as the OpenXR runtime so allowed it. Also noticed the rendering resolution was set above x1.0 so brought that down and turned down the refresh rate to 72Hz. That seemed to fix it as the kaleidoscope effect disappeared and it was running OK, was upstairs at this point so only around 500Mbps. Went back downstairs next to the router and the problem came back. Wondering if it's WiFi/network related in some way?

I had really poor, slideshow style performance in Airlink recently while it was fine on the cable. Turned out I'd overridden the bitrate for cable use in the Oculus debug tool. Once I'd removed that override it worked fine.

Hahaha you legend!! It was set to 500, I haven't even used the debug tool for nearly a year. Odd that it was set to 500 and ran fine on my Vega 56 though.
