Are there any accessories that are recommended for the quest 2?
I picked up a 2nd hand one and know nothing about it really. It does come with an elite head strap though..
Also I plan to mostly use it near to my PC for PCVR games, either sitting or standing.. Is it a good idea to buy a longer cable?
I guess also to use in the living room if the mrs gets into it.. For the meta games I guess...
That's great, plenty of stuff there. Thank you for that! One or two recommendations here,
Quest 2 accessories - recommendations, reviews etc
Figured this could be a useful thread. I'll try and remember to update it as we go, linking the reviews/posts etc here. Any accessories or even home made mods can be here. Maybe some other enthusiastic person could grab the 2nd post so they can always take over if I stop :D. Not sure on the...forums.overclockers.co.uk
I've only been playing 1 game via steam link and that's HL Alyx. Maybe every couple of minutes or so there's a lag/drop in audio for half a second. It's actually annoying because it kinda kills the immersion..For wireless, try steam link, which is also free.. and imo better than oculus airlink.
If you don't like either of those, then as @ShiWarrior said virtual desktop is a paid option which some people find better.

I have WiFi 6 5ghz tplink router which is 10ft behind me and my pc is pretty decent spec. And via Ethernet
Is this to be expected? I guess I should try another steam game to get a fair result... But is this paid virtual desktop really that much better?

the tplink 6E router is the cheapest 6E router on the market, and its the worst, Ravenger would get disconnected quite a lot with it

Thanks to the others who replied. But I noticed that the lag spikes happen even if I'm standing still doing nothing in the 'VR house' when you open steamlink. Not even in the game yet..
After some googles.. I noticed the TpLink AX routers have a lot of problems with airlink also, so I imagine it's that. (I have the AX50).
Even a thread here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/quest-2-which-wifi6-router.18900781/page-25
So I guess I'll have to search for a new router...
No idea if it will have any effect, but have you tried ALVR? As a Linux user it's my only option for PCVR but it works quite well and there is a Windows version. You will need the client software too for your headset which is available on the Meta AppLab. It's probably not quite as straightforward to get working as Meta's software (no idea, never tried it ) but worth a go to see if that rules anything out. Thanks to the others who replied. What version is your quest on? Have you updated it recently, as there was an update that borked wifi connections. My Quest 2 won't connect to my new router. It will find it, and I will enter the correct password but it won't connect it is a toob router which is a Lynksys Velop MX4200 this thing https://downloads.linksys.com/suppo...0Series_UserGuide_INTL_LNKPG-00755_RevB00.pdf. Everything else (old and new) connects to the router fine, any ideas? My headset is not connected to any network now and I 'forgot' all thet old networks it's connected to in the past.
Well I have just got a GL.iNet GL-MT6000 (AX6000) Flint 2 to replace my TP-Link Archer AX50 (AX3000). Purely because I saw 1 other post on reddit that said it worked lol... And although I was kinda shocked to see a lack of connection settings for my internet connection.. It did work. And actually slightly better speeds (~940mbps instead of ~915mbps).It may not just be the router at fault, lots of folks are having issues with stutter and lag spikes.
(Not Resolved) Known Issue - Quest PCVR streaming micro lags and stutter esp. when moving head
Hi team, I'm getting micro lags and stutter in Airlink on my Quest 3 (EU/UK), esp. when moving my head. In the Oculus debug overlay this causes brief spikes in transmit/decode, fps drops and visible stuttering. The issue is not present on my Quest Pro with otherwise identical settings - see...communityforums.atmeta.com
Still got the quest 2 but have the urge to upgrade as I feel I am missing out. Is anybody else in the same situation?
I ordered a Quest 3 today . But maybe am mad as i never really ever use my Quest 2
But it nice to know i will have it sitting there collecting dust for if i ever do want to have a play Plus the cold, wet & dark winter time coming soon
Always handy to have another headset so you can play multiplayer with family or visitors.
