*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Had to factory reset mine tonight as it wouldn't boot past the Oculus logo.
If anyone needs to do it you hold down power and volume down button to get the reset menu.

Decided to give Link a go and try out PCVR for the first time last night. Unfortunately my 3m USB3 cable apparently isn't USB3, which was a disappointing discovery.

Faced with needing to buy a new cable, I decided I may as well buy VD instead. It's taken me two evenings to get it running well, but I think I've finally cracked it! Has a go in The Lab tonight and it was a blast. Will give something more taxing a go tomorrow. Maybe No Man's Sky or Elite (not got much else to try).

Has anyone compared the sideloaded Contractors game to the PCVR game?

I feel like I'm pretty much done with PC gaming, and want to get a Quest2 next year for my VR fix

Just added a Vive deluxe audio strap to my replacement Q2 & i have to say it's way better than the Elite strap i have...it cups the back of my head perfectly & supports the weight really well...the only thing i need now is the VRCover facial interface.
Oh yes..& the audio is amazing too.

My £19 china specials arrived

What a difference! It's so much better than the god awful strap it comes with.

Much comfier, and I can finally have it tight so it's doesn't jump up and down on my face when I'm playing beat saber. Nearly got a broken nose the other night.

Just hope it doesn't break after 5mins lol

Ok I can't comment as to how good they are but I just bought a quest 2!elite strap for £20 delivered from AliExpress. It looks like a ripoff of the PSVR strap they have other styles for similar price . I also got fake leather replacement face insert for £10 delivery is a month I will post back when they arrive

is that the ali Express one ?

someone bought an Ali Express one on here, and said its comfy

to be honest, i think that style would be better on your head than the standard strap, the standard strap just doesn't sit correctly on the back of your head

why they just didn't make the elite strap on the main unit first time i will never know

I think they were doing everything they could cost wise to get it under $300 which included getting rid of the elite type strap. £299 is the magic number to sell anything tech wise to the masses. Personally I think they were right in doing it as the rest of us will still pay an additional £40 for the added comfort and mummy and daddy will more likely get this for little Jimmy for Christmas which means higher user base, more studios, more triple A games etc. I’d hazard a guess, with all the tech in this headset that they are still only just breaking even or even taking a loss to get market share in VR.

Just been having a read on twitter as to what are the best link settings and apparently setting 1.7 x render resolution in the desktop app gives you 1:1 pixel mapping ie native resolution. Running it any less and you are under sampling the image making it look soft.

5048 X 2760 is 1.7x render resolution, that's why higher than Native resolution. You would need a really powerful GPU to run that.

EDIT: Interesting, I have now read that Twitter comment. It's interesting. It depends on what refresh rate you use too.
