I cant get Elite Dangerous to work, in the headset its just stuck on loading whilst the game displays on the monitor. Anyone help?

I got it working - you have to go to the sub menu in Epic library and select launch in VR from there. Didn't work through the Oculus software.

Wow what a game though! The clarity is amazing, I can read all the text no problem.

But Im having trouble with my joypad, a slight drift on the thumbstick means Im constantly rotating.

My £19 china specials arrived

What a difference! It's so much better than the god awful strap it comes with.

Much comfier, and I can finally have it tight so it's doesn't jump up and down on my face when I'm playing beat saber. Nearly got a broken nose the other night.

Just hope it doesn't break after 5mins lol

Is it the steam version, the Oculus version or the DRM free one ? (I have no idea about the epic store one).

The Oculus one should just work on the condition you are running from Oculus rift mode.
The steam one you have to run the steamVR version ..... (It is native Oculus when run on the rift )

Keep seeing this one pop up. And as its a generic Chinese special, there's plenty of competition. Just nabbed one off AliE for £16.47! Shipping from Czech Republic too, so shouldn't take long to arrive (hopefully). Seems too good to pass up at that price.

Also tempted by the generic halo strap. But not so much stock about, especially shipping from Europe. And prices are a bit higher as a result (more like £25-£30, which still isn't bad).

I’ve just ordered one of those too.

A little review I posted over on the iRacing forums -

Received one of these yesterday to replace my Rift CV1. I’m running a Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 2080 and I’m using an aftermarket USB C cable (my cable does charge the headset when connected the the USB C port of my 2080]. I had already received the v23 update and set it to 90hz. All the iRacing eye-candy was switched on, including HDR. IPD was clicked to position 2 for my 66mm IPD.

Initial impressions weren’t great -

The standard strap is crap. It’s like a jock-strap and the headset bounces on the elastic straps. You need to readjust it every time you take it off.
The colours are no-where near as vibrant as they are with the OLED screen of the CV1 (but that’s to be expected).
The image is clearly post-processed and looks compressed at stock settings. Almost looks fuzzy. Still some screen door effect.

But...

After a little research I changed the following settings -

In the Oculus software I moved the quality slider to x1.3.
In the Oculus Debug Tool I set the Encode Resolution Width to 3648 and Encoding Bitrate to 500mbs.

That makes a hell of a difference. Screen door is virtually eliminated. It’s still a little fuzzy, but my eyes adjust far quicker than they do with the CV1. I took the Skippy out for a lazy drive around the Nordschleife. My god it’s beautiful. I’d never noticed before that the gear-stick actually moves when you change gear! I’d never noticed that you can actually see the front coil-overs down past your feet. The car actually looks fragile. The metal-work of the car is so smooth.

I then took the F3 for a spin around Bathurst. I’d completely forgotten that the F3 has a tiny windshield! I can now read the display on the steering-wheel. But best of all, I was setting purple sectors almost immediately on the mountain section because I could actually see exactly where the track meets the wall.

Once set up properly, the difference between it and the CV1 is like night and day. Highly recommended.

My Quest will almost exclusively be used for sim-racing. I see that I got a free PCVR game when I connected my link cable (Asguard something or other), but at a 90gb initial download I probably won’t bother installing it. I don’t really have the space in my house for upright VR.

How are people finding the updated resolution settings over link when tethered? Im going to try it later but my GPU won't cope, might be able to see a difference but will tank my framerate. Is anyone maxing out all the settings on a new GPU?

1080ti running 90,Hz and 4128x 2096 slider at 1.1.

I updated the bitrate to 300 and it affected frame rate in elite dangerous so knocked it back to.... Either 250 or 200 I can't remember.
Frame rate is everything in VR so for me that is as far as I.can go on my current rig I think
