*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Some of you have said that you like to lie down and watch movies on your headsets. I tried this last night, was going to watch a movie in Bigscreen Beta but, I couldn't watch it because the screen stayed n the sit down position. Even if I reset the view. I tried the Amazon Prime app and the same thing.

What apps allow you to watch TV show and movies while lying down? Or is there some setting I am missing in Bigscreen/Amazon?

why they just didn't make the elite strap on the main unit first time i will never know

Brings the price of the quest 2 down and they can charge even more for it as an accessory. Probably a good thing it was not included considering the current issues with the straps, there would be lots of people returning their quests due to faulty straps

Also being able to slam the headset In a travel bag with the basic straps is really useful compared to more bulky headmounts.

Honestly for the price I think Oculus have nailed the quest 2 (I just wish they did a higher end quest 2 pro with specs on a par with the reverb G2 for an extra £300 or so on top)

But for people dipping their toe into VR the Q2 is almost perfect imo

There's no better chip than the xr2 so you probably couldn't push a better screen easily.

I think it would still be worth it even with the same chip. Let's imagine it was the same spec as the G2 compared to quest2 you would get , better sound , adjustable IPD , slightly better FOV, more comfort.
There is no reason why in mobile mode it would need to output at the native resolution of the panels. For instance I run my 4k TV at QHD and it looks great.

Then for pc mode linking using a display port would be a boon. Clearly Facebook should know better than I but the preorders for the G2 would indicate there is a market for a £600-£650 device and insight tracking and touch controllers blow windows MR tracking and even their "improved" controllers out of the water.

I’ve been wearing my headphones whilst sim-racing all evening and they seem to make the Quest sit better.

Probably not much help to those dancing around they’re living-room.

Using Link cable with V3 - Banding/artefacts in the home screen

While in the home screen of Oculus desktop app, looking at the mountain/grass landscape, I can see some horizontal banding if I move my head up and down slowly. Its faint, very easy not to notice but it's there if you look. Looks like dirt on the screen. I can't see it from within the home screen area of the quest without the link cable. I am still yet to check using VD wireless ....

Anyone notice this?

The latest Amazon cable is yet to arrive, but I have swapped out my USB expansion card for an alternaitve with an additional USB-C connector.

Using the new card, my Oculus is now detected using an Anker 3ft USB 3 cable. But, it still gets detected as USSB 2 with a speed of 370Mbps.

So, the charge cable which comes with the Oculus, is this USB 3? Because when connecting it to the USB-C port, this still gets recognnised as USB 2. I'm starting to lose confidence that even if I did get the official cable that that wouldn't work either.

I don't think the included charge cable is USB3.
