Patch 1.05 has just been released - I don't have a link as yet, I think the mirrors are being finalised at the moment. :)

It brings the performance updates from the beta versions, the AH64 Apache and a new campaign.

This patch is universal and works ALSO with STEAM version but before You use it. make sure You DISABLE automatic updates of ARMA 2 in STEAM client.

I tried playing with the VOLCABT guys but their playing still did not suit me (Basically
sitting about for an eternity doing nothing , and stuff like walking into the combat zone - took ages)

Hey up matey, yeah I will do sometime over the xmas hols hopefully. My ArmAII sessions had been on hold as I'd ran out of activations on my DL copy of the game and SecuROM (********) wouldn't give me anymore. But now patch 1.05 has removed the DRM I'm back in action.

For those that don't know, ACE 2 is now out and it's simply incredible! It's a mod for Arma2 that pretty much introduces every feature you can imagine. Weapons can be deployed with bipods, weapons jam, wounds leave blood trails. It goes on and on. Also, 1.05 patch for Arma 2 solves most of the issues it originally had (fps issues etc).

Installing Ace 2 is a bit of a mission but just check it out on armaholic if you're an Arma fan and haven't checked it out yet.

KnightStalker, which method did you use? Six-Updater? It should just be a case of installing that then running the updater gui as admin (if needed). Wait for the browser window to open, then making sure the preset it set to ACE mod (vanilla) - or to that effect, and clicking execute.

If you've tried that method and can't get it to work try Addon Sync, which I find to be slightly better to be honest. Kelly's Heroes has a guide for it, along with their repo to download from.

To launch ACE you need to create/edit the game shortcut and add: -noFilePatching -mod=@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_PLA;@ACEX_SM;@CBA bearing in mind you may not need SM if you don't want to override current sounds, or you already have your sounds taken care of by another mod. For additional mods just tack them on the end following the same format.
 
yup MaKa at first i was using the sixupdater, i then did use the Addon for the Kellys Hero's server, im sure i was playing with someone with your name lol, but any other servers i couldnt get on to, ill revert back to sixupdater, ill remove all Ace folders and start again and use the command line in the shortcut (i think i may have done that part wrong before..doh)
 
Is there an all in one installer anywhere for the ACE2 mod? If not, exactly which separate mods do I need to get?

I'm getting myself confused trying to find all the separate packages s half the links just seem to link to a useless wiki page with no downloads on it.
 
If you were playing on the Kelly's Heroes server then I suspect ACE would have been working, when the game launches it should show your ACE version. When you use the six updater it creates a shortcut where the game is installed, try launching that.

I used the six-updater to grab the latest version, joined a server and kept getting prompts about it not being the latest, that's when I switched to Addon Sync.

What message do you receive when you fail to join a server? It could be that some servers rely on additional mods or maps. Try =WB=ACE 2 under co-op for example as I usually play there.

Check my previous post for six updater (advise to use first as it's more straightforward) or addon sync. Documents should get your started though you just need to run six updater gui and click execute.
 
I suspect you may of downloaded it now? I think it's around the 800 MB region although total size showing on my HDD is 1.2 GB

Updates are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday around 5-6 PM. You only need to run the updater again around that time to grab the latest version which are usually quite small in size. You can check for updates here, here and here. :)
