**Official Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Discussion Thread**

my new build that i have only just made, has a problem, havent got my cooling loop set up yet so its on the stock cooler for now with everything set to default

ud5h
3770k
16 gig vengeance 1600mhz
kingston ssd
quadro 4000
corsair 750w psu
a wifi card
a dvd drive

thats it

it works fine, apart from the A0 error code on the board

but runs everything as normal.... apart from the 10 min interval bsod's

even if its just sitting doing nothing

the bios is only f4 so im going to update that first

but if that dosent fix it.... is this board just a pile of **** or something

AO is normal operation.

Do the BIOS update first.

I've had a small problem for a while now and I'm getting sick of it. Can anyone help? Basically, say 1 in 5 times I turn the PC on it gives me a boot failure message and the option to load defaults or enter bios. Normally I can just enter bios, hit exit and it will boot without changing any settings but I'd like to resolve why it's doing it!

Running F8. Basically default settings bar some things disabled (Audio, some of the cpu features).

I'm using samsung green ram overclocked to 2133 10/10/10/28 and in windows its fully stable. I've tried upping the dram voltage everytime it does this but that seems to cause it to happen more frequently!? Tried settings between 1.4 - 1.6

Got sick of it earlier and switched the ram back to default to see if it still happens or not but won't know for a week at least.

Don't remember this happening pre-F8 with the same ram overclock.

Also my ram is basically installed like this according to the manual: CPU :|:| (| = Ram, : = empty slot). This seems wrong as CPU-Z picks it up as slots 2/4 but the manual clearly states they are 1/2 and the Channel A timings appear to work for the RAM ?

Either you need to tune the secondary timings or it's likely that your CPU IMC can't handle the speed - that sort of thing is always worse on cold boot. See if increasing VCCIO on the CPU helps or back off the RAM speed, it doesn't matter how much volts you put through your RAM if the IMC can't do that speed.

Thanks. Out of interest what is yours set to in terms of speed/timings etc?

If it's stable for a week running at stock I'll try a slightly slower speed than before with better timings and see what happens. Then go from there with the VCCIO.

No idea on secondary timings though...

I settled for 2000 9-9-9-28 1T at 1.45v because I value keeping the system cool due to my man-cave being a tiny box room.

Anything above this required big increases in volts for RAM (and also VCCIO if I wanted to stay at 4.4ghz). I didn't see the sense in running the increased volts (and heat) for the very minimal performance gain.

I'm still learning with secondary timings, hoping that with practice I can get the RAM down to cas8 or 7

Samsung green memory is rather poor as I went back to corsair 2133MHz and never had any problem like memory voltage kept resetting (only samsung green do that) I dunno why but I think Samsung Green is really ok for up to 1600MHz. Anything above that will be a major problem. Nothing to do with gigabyte board.

Hi chaps,

After my earlier post about the Power Surge on USB Hub Port, its no longer doing it? that night, when I shut down the PC, I had 79 updates, then next day (and still going) its no longer a problem, could this be a software issue?

Also, does anyone know why when I set my CPU multiplier to 40 (4Ghz) it constantly fluctuates between 40 & 41, even in idle mode? I'm used to seeing a small fraction move like 4.0 to 4.01 but never a whole 100Mhz?

And anyone know about the chipset LED 2 pin power socket on the board as I mentioned above?

Thanks :)

The USB power surge thing, if its not doing it any more, then sleep peacefully.

The CPU fluctuating, not sure.

The 2pin header near the CPU fan header is there if you would like to add LED lighting to the cooling.

Hello. I just ordered this motherboard from ******* and will be receiving it this weekend. Question: should I skip everything on the setup DVD and immediately install the updated drivers in linked in the first post of the first page here? Is there a special order they should be installed it? Also, should I immediately flash to the latest stable BIOS or wait until I see how things pan out?

Just trying to maximize my chances of a successful installation. A little nervous about hearing about all the issues this board seems to have. Thanks for any help.

Yes & yes.

Is there a special order they should be installed it?

Latest BIOS first then I followed this order:

1. Windows 7 Installation (Pre-install Intel Raid Drivers if required)
2. Intel Management Engine Interface
3. Intel INF Installation
4. Intel Rapid Storage Technology
5. Intel VGA Driver
5. Marvell Sata controller
6. Intel LAN Driver
7. Atheros LAN Driver
8. Intel USB 3.0 Driver
9. Wireless Drivers
10. Nvidia Drivers
