**Official Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Discussion Thread**

But those drivers are not for the UD5H, they are not listed on the Gigabyte page for the board and they do not install on the UD5H as far as I can tell. They are listed for the UD3H but that has a different chip set.

The UD5H two internal USB3.0 ports next to each other are from VIA chipset and four at the back are as well.

It says in the install guide to use the USB2.0 ports during the driver install if you are using Win7,

Chipset:
Up to 2 USB 3.0/2.0 ports (available through the internal USB headers)
Up to 6 USB 2.0/1.1 ports (2 ports on the back panel, 4 ports available through the internal USB headers)
Chipset + 2 VIA VL810 Hubs:
Up to 8 USB 3.0/2.0 ports (4 ports on the back panel, 4 ports available through the internal USB headers)
* In Windows XP, the Intel USB 3.0 ports and VIA VL810 HUB can support up to USB 2.0 transfer speed.
* Due to a Windows 7 limitation, please connect your USB device(s) to the USB 2.0/1.1 port(s) before the Intel USB 3.0 controller driver is installed.

With my UD5h (I have noted this before) I never get anything related to VIA within the device manager for the USB ports.

With the Z77 D3H board I do get it mentioned about the Eltron controler and thus I see both the Eltron and Intel installed.

This is what I get when I try and install the Via drivers on my UD5h board...

I am using two of the 19 pin motherboard headers for the front four USB 3 ports on my case as well.

None of that changes the fact that those drivers are not for the VIA chip on this mobo and will not install. Re-read the line you quoted in bold, it is talking about the Intel drivers, no mention of VIA drivers.
And as far as I can tell there are no drivers for that chip on this board.

Happy to be proved wrong but if they where for this board why would Gigabyte not list them on the download page for it and why do they not install?

You are correct, the VIA USB 3.0 chips on this board are just hubs not controllers and as such do not require drivers.

Still on Beta bios F8d here (yes I am slack!) lol, will try the latest F10 beta tonight...

So, just got my machine up and running after a 5 month build, installed ssd and windows etc and drivers from disk but my keyboard and mouse flicker on and off every 10 seconds or so making them impossible to use.

I installed the latest usb 3.0 driver from gigabytes site and all was fixed after a restart but after another restart the problem has returned. My G510 and G9x are plugged into the usb 3.0 ports on the back.

the correct drivers for both are installed but the g510 doesnt start properly, just says G510 on the little screen. Ive pretty much narrowed it down to a driver issue as the mouse and keyboard work in the BIOS (F8) just fine. Also when they freeze and start up again they do it at the exact same time and do it regardless of whether they are in the usb 3.0 or usb 2.0 ports, sorry for the lonf post :(

Any help is appreciated.

Having changed my mouse out from my g9x to a wireless logitech mouse, I find this mouse does not suffer from this problem of powering off as my g9x does. I also swapped out my g510 for an old alienware keyboard I had and again it does not power off like the logitech one, although every so often weI press a key once, it will print out about 20 of them on the screen.

I'm really at my wits end with this motherboard, Iv'e tried all the new drivers, reinstalling windows twice, installing the relevant drivers for both my g9x and g510 yet they still seem to not function properly and keep powering off in unison every 10 - 15 seconds :(

I put F8 on it last night to get my g510 working in the bios. Is a new bios likely to get it working properly within windows?

edit: excuse my lack of knowledge of the bios's :)
