Still getting DPC latency issues on startup.

As someone noted on page 30 about disabling easytune, I do not have it installed and have never installed it (unchecked the box with the setup CD). I have to wait anywhere from 5 seconds to 15 minutes for the DPC latency to stabilize to under 100 us.

Ive disabled many many devices and drivers and nothing has worked. New nvidia drivers, new usb drivers, turning off integrated GPU, turning of turbo bosst and intel quick start technology and nothing works.

looks like this at startup.
newbitmapimagevm.png

then will fall to under 100 us from anywhere up to 15 minutes after boot up.

Also changed my overclock and nothing, it was like this at stock speeds so I know that isn't the problem :(

Edit: I have also tried disabling and enabling High Precision Event Timer and still doesn't change a thing.

Yer something wrong there i checked mine with DPC and its green a grass!!!

Been like since the day I got it, not something that bothers me to the extent of RMA but definitely something I would like to get rid of. It always drops to low levels so its not a permanent problem, just annoying to have to wait for 10 - 15 minutes at every boot up before you can listen to any sound without crackling.

Do you have a PCi sound card or are you using onboard?

This board dont have a real PCI interface its software emulation that could be the problem!!

I use xonar D2 in the PCI I aint had any problems but I have read about people having problems with the PCI slot on this board.

seems to be when the pc warms up the latency drops? what hdd's are you using? and tested with just one memory stick to rule out that?

So, do you want to grovel and take back the negative comments about the board?

:D

He is right about the USB though - it's a bit flaky on this board. Some devices bdo make it unstable. I plugged in a Razer Boomslang yesterday and it bluescreened under load with a usb.sys error. Removed the mouse and it's been fine since.

I'd say that's pretty accurate, but can be within 5 seconds that it stabilizes. Resorting to running prime95 on startup as it seems to help stabilize it quicker. And no I'm not using a PCI soundcard , Just onboard sound, 1tb hitatchi HD and my boot drive is ocz agility 3 60gb

what voltages are you using atm for cpu,cpu/vtt and dram? could be not enough dram voltage if its suffering from cold

CPU is at 1.315mv and RAM is auto'd at 1.5v. It does it at stock clock and voltage so I don't think that's the issue. Though my RAM is spec'd at 1.65v I don't think with this chip that 1.65v is healthy for my CPU am I right?, I know with Sandybridge 1.65v was not advised.

If it was running all day long, (which it runs for many hours every day) and I were to reboot it after being on for say 8 hours, the DPC latency would still go erratic for 5 seconds - 15 minutes :(

even at stock things sometimes need tweaking,i dont think 1.65v applies to ivybridge but you shouldnt need that much anyway,i would set dram to 1.55v and see if its any better, your well within intel safe limits and even im running 1.55v dram on sb

I'll try that now and report back, thanks :)

edit: changed RAM to 1.55v and still DPC latency is erratic.

Double post I know and I apologize.

Just started up DPC latency monitor and here is the result. I have a rough idea what I'm looking at but I'm sure someone else here knows more then me.

Your system seems to have difficulty handling real-time audio and other tasks. You may experience drop outs, clicks or pops due to buffer underruns. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. Also one or more ISR routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.

im just guessing as something warming up and the latency stops, could be ram i dont know, another thing is hdd if you have any that enters sleep mode after startup? cant think whatelse you could try

you could run memtest86 and see if any errors crop up,and with 16gb of ram you might need the full 1.6-1.65v

Don't use sleep or hibernate mode, just stays on or off. Iv'e ran memtest a few times in the past few months (after I got this board) and it showed no errors. I'll wait and see what someone else says about 1.65v on ivy and see what happens.

Appreciate your time :)
