Balls, one stick is faulty it seems. POSTs then BSODs in every slot, the other one is fine.
You testing with the rest of the the system at stock speeds? If your overclocked it might just be one stick can handle higher speeds than the other.
XMP is just extreme memory profile, it just sets your ram up for ya automatically, but if it isnt showing up on the top of your Advanced mem settings page in the bios your ram doesnt support it, doesnt matter though its not hard to set up the timing your self later. If the mem was set to auto the timings were proberbly a bit loose, which means theyre less likely to crash, so i guess ya have a dodgey stick of ram, any other pcs ya can try the ram stick in just to make sure before you send it back?
Hmm it seems to be working ok now, no BSOD on boot and it isnt instantly failing Prime 95, I'll leave it to run for a few hours to make sure. Looks like I have an apology to make in the Customer Service section though! Thanks for the help BluD

Speaking of BIOS's I noticed that the last 2 beta BIOS's don't seem to apply clocks from the BIOS unless you clear the CMOS each time. It was doing my head in yesterday and I was using ET6 but you can't lower the clocks with it so just reset my CMOS and stuck to a clock that I know works without effort.
