***Official GTX 670 thread***

Well I have never overvolted a gpu but I really am relatively new to the game. I only made my current build last summer and for a long time I had my CPU auto overclocked by the UEFI. When I finally ended up doing it manually I could see how much further I could push my CPU without even taxing it heavily just by having control over volts.

From everything I have heard it seems that these kepler cards are essentially sold undervolted and could benefit enormously from tweaks.

that is exactly what I meant... if your finances are so tight that after covering the basics you never have any money for yourself...

I have all those costs you speak of yet still find a couple of hundred for myself here and there

See, the Victorians had the right idea. Send the kids to work and keep the wife in the kitchen. no nagging, and plenty of extra income :D:p

Kepler GPU's are aimed at people who like to move sliders. So simple to OC. My annoyance is that I like to fiddle and 680 will not let me do that :(

I don't think so, I mean after all the 570 had a 2.5GB revision. Looking at the 670 PCB there are 4 empty banks for another 2GB of memory...

That's the PCB?! Where's the rest of it? :)

I'm tempted by this over the 7870, I need a blower type cooler for my FT-02 case.

Well the 670 looks amazing , but I've absolutely zero regrets about my 680.

It was expensive but it's an absolutely brilliant card IMO. If the 670 gets close at a decently lower price point then all power to those that get on that sweet deal.

I'm as happy as could be with the 680, and if the 670 is up there too, then future owners can look forward to a cool, quiet and refined but also one beastly powerful card.

.

It is tiny, want the larger PCB so I don't have to wait for EK to release blocks.

Those heaven scores are so close it barely makes a difference! If ocuk are going to be kind enough to have one ready with a waterblock on Thursday for me I should be able to do some benching of my own come Friday night :D

Same for me. I love my 680 and it only cost 3 extra OT shifts at work. I hope the 670 is as powerful as we have seen. I am a Green team member and proud :D now lets smash AMD to bits :p (I am a green fan untill AMD release a card that smashes NVIDIA that is)

yea so is the Sapphire, you overclock to a max and then adjust the volts to OC some more, but every card is different some dont let you go too high, i've no idea which one i have...

this is going to be fun, because last time i OC i blew the card via Rivatune :D

but this time i've written down the numbers so i've got a rough idea how far to push it..... 1.3V seems too high though

Yes, but you pour creosote over a GPU. Also when you take your PC to the experts to fit the parts in, then ask if they will OC it. This way you won't have to break anything. It is all well and good writing numbers down but to see what is what involves a lot of time by going up in steady increments.

**** that blue PCB though!

Would look so much nicer if it was black with that cooler :(

i've owned the GB 470 SOC, 570 SOC and soon 670 and tbh you will forget about the blue pcb when you realise how awesome they are

wish the 670 had the green leds on it but i guess they put it on the 670 SOC

This may be the card that will finally give me the push to replace my 8800GTX. I was considering the 680 but if the performance is as close to as reports are saying and it's priced reasonably I may just go for it.

*sits and waits*

I am thinking of getting one of these. The 2gb version will be enough for gaming at 1920x1080 for a few years? My thinking is you only need a 4gb card if you have a dual monitor setup?

I'm very tempted by one of these to replace my 6870 xfire. I'm assuming at 1920 x 1080 there wont be too much of a loss in perfomance with the ability to turn all the settings up etc?

The 6870's run fine but are now very noisy and hot, so the fans ramp up too far for my liking in my cramped case. Ive had them apart, re applied paste, gave them a good scrub up etc but they still run loud.

I'll also be able to fit some of the fans back inside my case if I go back to a single card as the H100 + xfire didnt fit!

Cheers,
Matt.

Another thing which hasn't been considered yet is the scaling of these Kepler cards. If the 670 is 7/8 of a 680 yet is only a few percent slower, maybe the architecture doesn't scale up that well and perhaps this could be why the "big Kepler" has been pushed back.

Definitely think I want one of the longer versions of these. A proper GPU should be the length of the Mobo...

Even mATX says I need the bigger card...

I need a quiet, black PCB one. Let's hope Gainward are feeling nice on the pricing...
