******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I'd love to know how people get these videos as the servers are incredibly unstable.

They aren't always unstable, especially recently, i've spent hours in Pyro without server issues, it also depends on which 'server' you're on, many time i've read in chat that their server had errored out and yet where i was everything was fine.

@humbug @Dicehunter. Mission refractor work is mostly in the build now with some brand new types of missions. Heist missions, bomber runs etc!

Not tried any and won't but I saw some in the mobi glass last night.

I'm actually using my time in the ptu to practise going through the jump gate because it ain't easy, especially in a large ship.

Many people are in for a rude awakening!

Nice !

I made it through the jumpgate in my Polaris but it was tricky, The music cut out though as well as the sound FX and the visual FX completely failed half way through so I was following that particle stream in a sea of black.

Star Citizen has always had a problem with sound, its very broken and seems to crap out as much as its working.

Never mind clouds, don't give a monkeys about clouds in a SPACE game, Just give us a finished game. They can add that crap after!

The people who do the planet tech are not the same ones who do server meshing, Vulkan, Gameplay, Story, Characters etc... so if the people who do the planet stuff just stopped it wouldn't make dev work any faster for the other stuff.

Think you've inadvertently proved the point I was making !

Not really, A space game needs things like planets, You want to fly around in an empty void ? Doesn't sound appealing.
Never said anything about planets!
Going to all the bother of fancy clouds before even a base game with actual content is out seems to be a waist of resources at this point

As I said, the people who do planet tech, which includes things like clouds, rivers, flora and fauna, are the not the same ones who do all the other stuff.

The planet tech folks stopping their work isn't going to speed up all the other stuff.

In fairness to the clouds and the system that goes with them then weather comes in which will directly affect gameplay be thar flight or FPS mechanics etc.

So the first stem is getting what thet have so far in. Then to link that up to the driven atmospherics now they know the dynamic cloud movement and construction works etc.

It's the first step in what we saw at the end of that video/concept gameplay at CitCon. As a single thing it doesn't add anything gameplay other than visuals.

Noting also though that things like the shadow and cloud system would affect the NPCs vision system they showed too if it gets dark enough so there that too.
