******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Derek has been hugely entertaining the past couple of days, especially his near nervous breakdown on "the outhouse" on saturday.

You should join us on r/dereksmart if you haven't already.

No one mention his name again otherwise he’ll show up and let rip on everyone. Original backer from right after it was announced and I’m still happily following it and can’t wait for 3.0...just need to build a computer when it is released.

Battlecrusier 3000ad was one of Derek Smart's many failures, if you want to have a laugh google 'Derek Smart Star Citizen'

He was talking about a class action (or whatever Mericans call suing) against CR. The guy is nuts and the biggest charlatan in gaming history, out ranking even Peter Molyneux

I don't care how long the wait is to be honest. This kind of development needs to be supported and encouraged, we are truly seeing something groundbreaking which in turn is moving tech forwards. What's happening with Star Citizen will move the gaming industry on once again to the next level, that can only be a good thing instead of regurgitated fluff month after month. The latest video just blew me away, incredible the scale they are developing.

If this is ever released and turns out to be as good as it looks, I will certainly buy it (as long as I don't have to pay to win).

But I'm still very sceptical and certainly won't throw down any money until there is a finished product.

All they show is tech demos and nothing more. Which is sad.

You and many other zealots are part of the reason why 5 years and $160m later, this game has yet to reach alpha state.

Until they show actual gameplay, nothing is groundbreaking n no tech is being moved forward.

Is this ever discounted? Seems to be about £50.

Very rarely, it use to be available now and then for as little as $20 but those have dried up. It may be discounted again in the anniversary sale coming up at some point before the end of the month. You will have to be VERY quick to grab one of those discounted packages if it does though, I'm talking <5 mins when they go live and you'll likely only get at most 48 hours notice of that happening even if you're keeping bang up to date with development and comms. I'd suggest getting an RSS reader (feedler etc) and pointing it at: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/rss

Bare in mind the game will cost more at release and includes Squadron 43 (Single player campaign which leads into Star Citizen) and Star Citizen the persistent universe which is entirely multiplayer.

Actually it's CIGs fault it's taking so long, they over promised and couldn't deliver within timescales given at the start, heck I'm still not convinced they can deliver. Does this mean I'm still a zealot ? I really want to be one.

Blame doesn't sit with backers regardless, it's entirely down to the management for letting the scope blow up. However there is genuinely not a huge rush on now to get this done as long as progress can be shown, I don't think they've quite got their head around what "progress" is yet though but since I'm playing 3.0 at the moment all I can say is I'm happy with things without breaking NDA.

There will be a FreeFly Week/end' when 3.0 is released, perhaps even a discount on starter ships.

Yes Alpha 3.0 is real and yes it is worth the wait.

lmao. just wow. Cause what we have seen regardless of tech demo or gameplay, we've seen thousands of times before right
