******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

*looks around at the tumbleweed*

Strange how quiet it can go in here. Looking good, Tumbril mechanics seems to be working nicely too which was a surprise tbh although some of that will be built in Cryengine I guess or are they too far along the fork for that on the moving objects in space etc?

*and those other AAA games have actually been released ;)

Most "AAA" games are worse than the indie games being released, they are rushed, full of bugs and generally lack any sort of imagination or ambition until someone else, usually an indie game does it first.

EA are now looking at developing an SC style game btw.

Persistence had been in for a while but it's still alpha and wipes are frequent.

Also as a fan of kingdom come bugs and all the fact anyone compares them is amusing as hell. They couldn't be more different but keep on trolling.

Uh-huh.

Well I keep coming back every now and then to see if Star Citizen is any closer to release and any less full of bugs....and just find people repeating their Kool Aid justifications for the thing never being released. Foot IK...jeez no one's ever done that before.

In case you were wondering, there's been a very specific job advertised which suggest EA are going to milk Star Wars again.

I got excited for this at 3.0 and finally decided to invest in it, but I failed to anticipate just how much of a mess it is. The starter ship that I was in was so weak that I could not kill literally anything. So I decided to do a cargo run, filled my ship up and then promptly lost it to a bug along with all of my initial credits. I think it has huge potential and I’m genuinely excited for the promise of what it can be, but it’s just not worth the time right now.

honestly while it's in alpha or beta play with friends, it's far less frustrating.

you can use then as is but will need to figure out binding stuff. it's horrid tbh I have given up on binding my Ch pro throttle and CH combat stick for now. works ok as single device too, can't think of any useful things you'd lose tbh but I would avoid it is it's fine in elite. no point screwing it up.

Been playing this on an off for years, still hate the controls menu.. with a passion!

Wish they'd implement one far more like Elite: Dangerous has. It's not just the menu, it's being unable to test functionality of devices etc easily whilst in them - then having multiple menus to get back into the one you just ******* left!

Atomic - setting up controls is still a pain, wish they'd adopt the menu system from Elite: Dangerous to be honest. The current one is just far too fiddly, too much quitting it to test a setting then going back in through other menus to get to it etc.

Still I'm sat on my little 4 core 8Gb RAM machine so won't be back for a while lol

Still no sign of the funding drying up either.

It continues to improve, not something we can say for many PC games these days outside of the a few good indy ones.

I can't imagine 'many' people will buy it after release as anyone interested surely has helped with investment to date.
I honestly believe the approach they are taking to try to do it all is a mistake. They have too much money to allow them to what they want though.
Andi.

They have thousands of subscribers who will happily continue to pay a sub after release if that money goes into cosmetics and game development, we know this as the subscribers regularly poll themselves to find out their opinions on matters like this.

The game won't stop developing at release (assuming it ever fully releases), Squadron 42 comes out in episodes but here will be additional expansions (think WoW) after that for single player and likely multiplayer will be a never ending feast too.
