******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Don't give them ideas, they'll spend another 2 years making wings flap.

I did quite enjoy some of the tech demos but I'm not a fan of any demo that's clearly "on rails", free fly the ship, by all means pre-record it too if you want but show actual in-game flight.
Ha ha! Yeah! Funnily enough, it was me that suggested they use Faceware for the live face stuff. Is that still in? It made some right monstrous expressions!

Best part of day 1 citcom for me https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=DKKDmi_BOutuXj8E&v=fAbcr35_Teg&feature=youtu.be

Seems crazy how this is being ignored by the wider community and instead you see endless posts about a new ship...

This tech is huge and without it, this game is not feasible to do in the scope and vision that Chris Roberts wants.

The fact that bullets and objects can travel across meshed servers and how a 30k just briefly pauses your game client (but u can still move your char around etc) whilst a new dgs is being loaded up is quite frankly god tier tech.

Yeah this is MASSIVE, 4 or 5 years to do it, i can believe that.....

Star Engine video, it's a long one, detailing all the technology in the game currently, along with new tech coming soon. The game looks absolutely incredible, and with the addition of Ray Tracing and GI it will just be insane, surpassing Cyberpunk in many aspects, the real time damage model and physics are just bonkers.

Also Pyro on 31st for PTU testers, usual wave invites though.

2953 is that the announced official release date?

I'm gonna have to find a way to achieve immortality at this rate.

Still chugging along at sub 40 fps despite this now being on 10 year newer hardware it quite shameful at this point.

Server meshing excuses aside they need to put up or shut down at this point.
I normally get a solid 60fps and in space 100fps just fine. More than I get in Cyberpunk or Starfield tbh.

Does it not bother anyone that the ships are always 100% rigid? nothing seems to move, wings/engine should vibrate. They just look like a horrible solid lump

That new video above was pretty boring. Just felt like a rehash of the Pupil To Planet video from years ago.
Sorry but what. That is madness. However as I'm at CitCon I will ask the ship guys when I see them next about external vibration to wings and engines whilst in atmo.

Citizencon.

....couldn't have named that more aptly if they'd tried lol.
It was just as hilarious the last time you said it.

Some shiny stuff shown yesterday and so far today. The flight demo earlier with the aerodynamics :D The FPS quality of life stuff and HUD are very nice too. Hopefully some of these features appear sooner rather than later.

The environments look so good. There's some great features that they've designed / talked about. Now they just need to get it working and ingame.

It looks damn phenomenal.

The last few years of Citcons have been pretty bland and 90% bla bla, 10% demo/video etc. Theres a few talks which i havent even bothered watching cos it usually puts me to sleep (for real). This one just straight up knocked it out of the park. Things have been pretty slow during the covid years and this just showed all the various things they've been working on and how polished it looks.
I still havent seen the middle couple of hours of today, i had to jump to live to catch the big ending and seeing everything coming together in SQ42 is amazing. So much better than i'd ever expect. If they'd ended that trailer with the Pixar desk lap and bouncy ball, i'd have gone 'yeah, makes sense'... the only thing that im unsure about was the characters talking, there was desync in the stream and so its hard to judge whether that looks off or looks as flawless as everything else about it.

Base building too... that was pretty huge. Talk was that the Pioneer would be one of the last ships before 1.0, and while that might not have changed, showing the vehicle & Galaxy can do these tasks, is fantastic.

The lips were awful but if they got a year to sort them then all good cause everything else is fricking sweet. Seeing that in person with huge screen and massive speakers was mental.
