******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

The lips were awful but if they got a year to sort them then all good cause everything else is fricking sweet. Seeing that in person with huge screen and massive speakers was mental.
Im green with envy :D
I was there for the first Manchester Con and thought that was easily the best one we'd had (in terms of what they showed, sadly a lot of it never arrived etc), but you could take either day from CitCon 2953 and they'd beat everything before them.

The lipsync seems to be fine on the video SC uploaded to youtube, certainly better than what was streamed out over twitch. I was really impressed with how Gillian Anderson looked in the game, it seemed to have a good level of realism and the expressions seemed impressive. Typically games dont tend to get that across well, i thought it looked spot on.

On a broader note this years Citizencon was fantastic.

And the stuff that's coming "aiming for Q1 2024 and through the next 12 months" -Chris Roberts, is ####### phenomenal.

Also, i'm ###### going to next years....

Same. I'll try and go next year too.

If they release even half of the things they showed before next year citcom, that would be amazing.

Dont forget, pyro playtest starts in the preview channel in the next week or two!

Awesome we can all head together next year then. And yeah I'd be happy with 75% of what they showed dropping in 12 months.

But critical one is of course server meshing. The water and destruction is just there, clouds and a few other bits already coming. Map and starmap is basically ready even for PU and the mobiglass basically just needs the other apps porting over with the PU version UI.

It does need more colour still like the other concepts as they got some minor colour.

I need to rewatch today's stuff tbh to absorb some of the info as I switched off during the Pyro panel tbh. Some of that felt rehashed.

They've not confirmed if next year is going to be in the UK, I've heard a lot of people say it'll be Germany, then UK the year after.

I'm also now a bit hyped for SQ42, don't own it (knew I should have bought it when it was cheap) and didn't really care a lot about it before as there was so little info and the state of the game.

UI and gameplay fixes is what we still need though. We're still unable to repair 90% of the time at planet pads. There's still real problems with what they've shown off with space combat as well. With my understanding of MasterModes, they've done nothing to prevent light fighters sitting at range from larger ships and wearing them down while avoid all return fire. I'm almost hoping they change it so S1-3 weapons won't damage larger ships. Without something like this, ships such as the Hammerhead will still be useless.

The map was an interesting one as it was hiding a lot of info that really is needed, such as orbital markers. A filtered list with search function or something will be needed.

Base building looked reasonable, easily the furthest away from release, even assuming they trickle it out starting with the small stuff.

Character creator looked great and they've confirmed they'll be a save and export feature.

I'm hyped for the fps changes, real basic QoL stuff that'll make a big difference. Still, the hype is real again; it's like Blizzards cutscenes. :D

Defo.

I think if all goes well with sq42 polish I think they could announce the actual release date in next year's citcom.

Perfect place to do it

I think there is a chance it might even be announced before that. They say its in polishing stage, what they showed looked pretty polished to me and the new SQ42 gun handling and audio is already in this current 3.21 build, so they have already started moving gold standard stuff from SQ42 over to Star Citizen for at least 3 months.

Edited: only a few weeks left of this year...

Na at earliest they announce it for invictus next year?
CR said hiimself no dates until the game is ready to be stamped in Gold.

Ie the game is code/dev frozen and ready to be printed in the factory(for all those who use to play games with cd's etc lol)

I think the term is Gold approved or something?

Then agai, saying that, the game does need some marketing campaign push for it or will CIG do a "Valheim" and one day we see it in the stores just like that?

Exciting times

SQ42 looks incredible from a visual perspective, Star Engine is something else...
Yea all those negetive people slating out outdates sc/sq42 looks are probably eating a lot of humble pie this morning....

If im honest it looks better than CP77 which is the staples of graphics as of today imo.

And SQ42 nevermind SC has a much much larger scope and complexity than CP77.

CP2077 is the best of where we are at, SQ42 is next gen....

@jonneymendoza

So when are expecting to be released? I am think 2025 around the time next gen GPU's come out perhaps?
Yea worse case is 2025 Q3 assuming it takes 2 years to polish.

best case? 8-10 months it takes to polish so mid q2/q3 next year.

They are at a state where CP77 was back in 2019? ie when they first announced a release date(but got pushed back a year was it?)

One thing worth mentioning is that CIG have created there own type of DLSS....:O :O

The game will also be able to use DLSS and FSA from AMD as well so that should help with performance
