******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Might have been server side, they are getting hammered due to how unpredictable the number of players is during free fly.

8-16 is fairly big but not generally performance FPS wise. More whether you can get in at all!

^^ more stability generally, not a CPU I'm familiar with either so can't honestly say whether the RAM is the bottle neck or not.

RAM certainly helps but what sort of FPS are you getting at 1080P etc?

You need to get lucky and be assigned one of the few huge hangars. Harry has landed a Reclaimer inside one of them.. although it was a bit squint but we survived!

Looks like it might run right though to the 4th December.

If you want to rent them just now you need to go to the Expo event in Lorville, although I get the impression they may change that later as they can't have all the ships on show at the same time surely..? @humbug

Can anyone recommend a cheapish HOTAS to use with this game? Nothing fancy, something just to enhance the gameplay a bit.

T- flight from Thrustmaster

T16000 is a better stick by a mile but having a separate throttle is more fun

If you want to spend more there is a big jump to the Saitek X56 etc but check out the members market they do pop up there at nice prices a few times a year

I don't know, we would have no issue crewing larger ships if the group system worked better, my worry is the time it would take for someone to join us if we'd already got in site eg in an Orion with escort.

30+ mins to get there would be frustrating as hell

Where is this in development now? Are we any closer to an actual game?

Yes.

  • Ship buying (not persistent but it's there and needing balanced)
  • Missions
  • Mining
  • Trading
  • Planetary exploration
  • Asteroids of doom
  • Buggies you can load/unload, try to drive into space
  • City you can land at / take off and explore (very limited internally), which also has a transit system.
  • Can take off from a space station, explore and mine, land in the city and sell your loot.
  • Tons of vehicles and increasing amounts of armour, weapons etc.
^^ Most of which is buggy as hell but glorious when it works.

I've probably missed a few things but the building blocks are being added. Looking good - just a shame the trolls who don't follow development are too busy playing guff like Fallout 76, the latest regurgitated Fifa and waiting on the next thrilling Diablo mobile game. To hell with any publisher who actually tries to make something decent..

It’ll be a good while longer until their plan comes to fruition. Meanwhile they will keep the money rolling in. By the time it is finally released it will be dated anyway. They are just lucky that there is little competition out there, so people are happy to keep buying into this pipe dream.

Is that your hope? Or do you just not want to have any games that aren't the same recycled garbage year on year?

See I want to pick this up, I love space games and this looks like it will be the gold standard when its completed. What puts me off is reading that after 8 years development its still not out and it seems to have epic feature creep holding it back, yeah all good ideas but useless if it never gets a full release.

I want to be sold on it

Then wait for release.. nobody is forcing you to back it and the money isn't going to be missed.

Criticise all you want we do it enough ourselves but I'm not going to try to convince someone to throw money into the game at this point - it's a buggy mess, but that doesn't mean it's not progressing and improving.

Personally I mostly play indy games these days as most "AAA" titles are awful so I back purely because I want one that actually tries to do something better for a change. If it fails it fails, I'll not exactly be crying in the gutter..
